Completing our HURRICANE-THEMED MIXFLOOD is our first collab between SNAPPLEMAN & VIRT (!!), working under the joint moniker of PREENUS (don't ask, don't tell) with an EPIC (you expected anything else?) Zelda arrangement from WIND Waker. WIND, you see, because it's rather a bit windy right now. While sailing in a hurricane is generally inadvisable - sometimes a mast can be TOO full - wethinks you're going to love this badass metal-orchestral opus. Snap writes:
"Jake wrote the arrangment (in like 5 hours), sent me the MIDI he wrote, I did the guitars, bass, drums, keys etc etc, he did the massive orchestration (in like a day, srsly he's insane) and sent me stems, I mixed it, BAM. <3 u all. Also, this was our first release as the group "Preenus", we might do more in the future. Oh yeah, this was a DoD entry for December 2011 month, the theme was Nintendo VS Sega."
I don't know about you, but I'm certainly hoping this is one Preenus that rears its head again; at 5'39" virt+snap take on several source tunes, and restraint is NOT on the menu. Shreddage, chuggage, machine-gun drummage, and better-than-it-needs-to-be orchestrationage ARE, with some À la carte wankage thrown in, too. Silly me, upon first listen I was ACTUALLY worried for a second when I thought the arrangement might be too similar to HyperDuck's iconic & brilliant WW ReMix from 25YL, but then 0'34" hits with some Pirates of the Carribean orchestral bombast and we divebomb into full shred + orch at 0'46" and any such notions are emphatically quashed.
Doing a conventional play-by-play in this case is downright prohibitive; there's a ton of STUFF going on here, and it's all brilliant, and you're probably going to make things in your pants. Snirt? Vappleman? Mortal men may be from Mars, but these gents are from Preenus, they've crafted some epic Zelda metal to enjoy (side of hurricane optional), and here's hoping their tomphallery & epicality continues with future collaborations.

I am probably going to get hate for posting this, but this mix irritates me. The reason is, I should enjoy this. The arrangement is fabulous, and the performances, attention to detail, humanisation, and ideas presented here are top notch. However, there is one thing that I can't get over. The mix is just too loud. Everything sounds squashed, and I can't bring myself to enjoy it because it is so taxing on my ears
I'm glad people in the comments above me can see past it.
For me personally, if I want a track this loud, i'll just turn it up on my computer.

Why, in the name of all that's holy, hasn't there been another Preenus remix? Because if there's one thing this rocking masterpiece teaches us, it's that it will kick your ass and make you submit to its awesomeness until you willingly bend the knee before its supreme glory. That didn't even make a lick of sense, but what do you expect from someone who's listening to this frigging remix? Coherent thought and professional analysis?? Hell no, all you can think of is that hopefully no one sees you getting off on this song - again and again.
In the immortal words of a wise, old sage:
"i may or may not have masturbated to this
YES"

Thirty seconds into this ReMix, and this vessel takes off like a rocket into the sea! This entire ReMix is like a five and a half moment voyage into pure metal rocking bliss. I think this is actually some of Virt and Snappleman's best work, but when you put two talented folks together, the results speak for themselves. Such a badass ReMix!

This might very well be my favorite video game track of all time, soundtrack, remix, whatever.

Man this is awesome.
At first I was apprehensive just because it's so different to the last Wind Waker remix I heard (Hoy Small Fry) which shares some similarities but then the pacing kicks up and it just goes full pelt and I was like woah didn't think that melody could do that.

Neat mix, the beggining is very misleading!
It is a tad medley-ish but it doesn't matter because it's awesome anyway. Nice guitars and some sections have a lovely pirate/middle age sound.

Such an epic song. Love it!
When 4:42 hits, it really feels like the ending to a movie. So full of energy! Great job

This is a sick mix, loved it when I heard it at MAGFest earlier this year and still play it from time to time. But can we expect less from Snappleman or virt?

2:26 - 3:34 sounds like Sonic kicked Link off his boat and covered every grid of the map within that time span.
I didn't get any sleep last night, but this remix just became my ear coffee.
