Last up, history repeats itself as Deus Ex composer (and VGM badass) Alexander Brandon once again collaborates with Jimmy "Big Giant Circles" Hinson!! "Siren Synapse" was a fantastic mix & a high point of 2009; it led to our interview of Mr. Brandon, and it ended up on Sonic Augmentation alongside the seven tracks we've posted this week. This arrangement is yet another Brandon-Hinson mind-meld, focusing on 'DuClare Chateau' and the title theme in a slick, mellower jam that pairs dramatic, shimmering synth & guitar with a layered drum groove & resonant piano. The sense of space in this mix is superb - everything's crisp, expansive, and detailed, which lets you appreciate the seamless melding of themes, thoughtful progression towards an ending that builds intensity, and sheer beauty. Both ReMixers were unfortunately pressed for time when we tried to solicit more detailed comments, so we're not entirely sure who did what, but both should be proud for yet again producing a masterful arrangement. DX:SA album director Larry Oji writes:
"Jimmy's mark on OC ReMix is profoundly deep as a veteran ReMixer, a great former judge, and the creator of our annual Support OCR Month donation drive (which will happen again, we promise). Jimmy took the initiative in 2009 to pull in the legendary Alexander Brandon on their previous Deus Ex collaboration, helping familiarize Alex with more of what OCR does, which is so important in our efforts to let original composers know that we appreciate their work.
I've since met Alex in person, cracked up at his industry stories at MAGFest, and been absolutely shocked by his uncanny Morgan Freeman impression (142:54). Meanwhile, Jimmy's career as a game composer continues to build, which I'm proud to witness. To have these two involved again really means a lot for Sonic Augmentation, both in having Jimmy & Alex team up again, and having the series lead composer contribute to and appreciate this effort.
I'd truly love to hear a third collab by them someday. No, it wouldn't get old. :-)"
Ditto that; "Ma Chérie Nicolette" is a highlight among highlights on the album, Brandon & Hinson can again be proud of crafting an amazing collaboration that beautifully captures & expands on the game's aesthetic, and a huge congrats to Larry and ALL of the few, proud artists that came together to make Deus Ex: Sonic Augmentation a worthy tribute to the series' music!!

Thank you for working the opening theme in! This is a wonderful track that sent me back years to searching through a lonely chateau, listening to recordings, and hunting for clues...

The high level of production quality for every song on this album has amazed me, to be honest. This track is certainly no exception. Incredible ReMix collab between Brandon and BGC.
