Newcomer Dirty Delay (Florent Plazas) takes 'Kraid' in a new, toe-tappin' progressive house/electro direction that works quite well:

"I used to produce progressive house music. This game and this music enchanted my childhood, so I thought it could be interesting to transpose this music with an alternative approach. I have erased all the dissonant notes in this music because I want to compose a happy ambiance with electro and progressive house standards. If when you listen to this music you wanna get up and dance, I have completed my objective. I am very proud of the result and I hope you will enjoy it."

I'm glad to inform Florent that I DID in fact want to get up and dance when I listened to this mix, so the objective HAS been completed :) This source actually works really well in a variety of styles, as Mustin proved with his excellent d'n'b/jazz take back in 2011. DD's done a good job of adapting the rhythms to a 4/4 structure that emphasizes the downbeat, has an infectious energy, sidechains aplenty, and employs some sweet transitions & builds. DragonAvenger writes:

"The track is long, but there's a ton of little details that really make this stay interesting and fun to listen to. I love the overall mood and soundscape. This is definitely a track I'd love to explore Zebes while listening to. There's some good variation in your structure, and the dynamic changes really help to keep the listener focused. I felt like the backing synths got a bit repetitive overall, but I think that comes down to personal taste."

Sometimes a good beat & a solid arrangement idea can be extended to fill out a 6+ minute track without getting repetitive, as long as things are always evolving and the listener is always rewarded for anticipating a certain amount of change throughout. I think the artist accomplishes that balance, and I think many who are familiar with the original will appreciate how it's been manipulated into the spine of a house/electro skeleton while remaining easily recognizable. Great, accessible & enjoyable debut mix from Dirty Delay, who takes the dark and ominous atmosphere of Hirokazu Tanaka's composition and makes it hypnotizing, catchy, and a lot of fun!

Very interesting mix here. While it maintains the atmosphere of original pretty well, it also has all of those EDM details - jammin' four-on-the-floor beat, some excellent bass synths, so this unique blend of style and atmosphere is pretty damn cool. So good!

What "Fear Factory" Remix was that? I don't see it in his profile... Was it for a contest, or does OCRemix now Screen remixes before they come in?
