StarTropics! It's been over 8 years since our last featured ReMix of the game, and here to rectify that is OverClocked University, with an upbeat, festive dance mix that's a B-side from their new album Spring Break DJ Set, which is available everywhere through OverClocked Records!
Arranger and mastermind of this particular OCU endeavour, OA (Andrew Luers) writes:
"Something fun and summery, mixing a club beat with dat accordion!! I loved these 2 songs from StarTropics, and haven't seen any music of it on the site for almost a decade. Here is my mini-tribute. :-)"
Spring's long gone, and summer may now be officially over for much of our listening audience, but you can stay sunny & bright year round with this one - fun arrangement, positive energy, good vibes, and yeah... the accordion is actually a real highlight, and works quite well. Chimpazilla concurs:
"Such fun! Sounds amazing, the ethereal pads contrast with the heavy upbeat drums in such a great way. Mixed really well! Perfect summery tune indeed. I need a mango daiquiri. I shared this with WillRock and he said I should DR it because it's clearly a blatant ripoff of "King of the Road," but I'm gonna let that slide for now."
Good stuff, check it out & check out the album!

Clever transition between themes, Andrew. I never consciously noticed how the Sub-C Map theme was sort of a variation on the B section of the Overworld theme. In fact, it may be better to say that that part of the Overworld theme is just a little preview of the Sub-C Map... which maybe is why getting into Sub-C always felt so much like home-base in-game... like you were really moving forward with the heart of the story when you got into Sub-C, at least to me. Good times they were, playing this game with my big sister.
And the accordion lead situation was good.
