ReMix:Crypt of the NecroDancer "Funky Morty" 2:29

Crypt of the NecroDancer: OverClocked, arranging the singular & fantastical music of Danny Baranowsky, was featured on Crypt of the NecroDancer: AMPLIFIED, and recently won VGMO's award for best fan-arranged album of 2017, with Mirror Image: A Link to the Past ReMixed coming in right behind it!!

Many thanks to VGMO for the high praise! What do these two albums have in common? They're both kickass, they both have an emphasis on EDM, there's a good deal of overlap on the participating artists, and they both benefited from amazing artwork & leadership.

While Mirror Image was a free release helmed by WillRock & DaMonz, Flexstyle (Michael Birch) managed Crypt, which can be purchased for the best $9.99 you'll ever spend :) at Bandcamp, iTunes, Steam, and of course OverClocked Records.

To celebrate the VGMO award & because it's cool to have some free Crypt on OC ReMix proper, Flexstyle himself submits this cut off the album, his own dark & funky EDM arrangement of "Rhythmortis" that employs generous portions of swing, dirty bass, plentiful plucks, and modulated verbs for a good time:

"This was the first completed track for Crypt of the NecroDancer: OverClocked. I whipped it up in a day or two when we first got wind of the project as kind of a proof of "yes, here, we can indeed do good work, you're in good hands." Seems to have done the trick, too, since between the 16 different contributing ReMixers, we managed to make an album that I'm incredibly proud of. I've said this before in many different arenas, but here, one more time: GREAT WORK, TEAM!

Back on to this song: when we were showing off the preview for this album at OCR's MAGFest 2017 panel, this is one of the tracks that we'd played in the preview. After it was over, Jillian Aversa asked, "hey, was that a zircon song?" Nope! It's just Chuck Flex-sta. MEMES FROM THE PAST: I HAS THEM! I'll take my music being confused for Mr. Aversa's any day of the week, though. :P

Necro-hop? Whatever it is, it's catchy, it's sinister, it's funky, and in under 3 minutes it gets up & moves its thing, leveraging the centerpiece synth pluck to great effect through modulation & sheer groove. Very proud to see both Crypt of the Necrodancer & Mirror Image recognized for the brilliant albums they are, as the talented ladies & gentlemen involved truly came together & made something special. Congrats to both teams, thanks to VGMO, and congrats to Flex for this mighty proof-of-concept mix that helped galvanize the project!
