This is a remix that has definitely been a long time coming. With the remake coming out on PS4, I thought it was about time I had a go at remixing this soundtrack. I've wanted to do Shadow of the Colossus for ages and I'm glad I waited this long to do it, the wait was worth it. A lot of you have wanted me to remix this either because you wanted me to do it or you drew parallels from the soundtrack in my own original works and remixes. The soundtrack has been a large inspiration to me over the years, and the game is a classic that I look forward to enjoying again in its new remade glory in the near future. I hope this is a remix worthy of the music it came from!
I decided to do a medley of songs that I personally felt would work well and tell a story. There were a few more songs I would have loved to arrange but didn't think they'd suit this particular arrangement. If I ever did another SotC remix, I would build the arrangement out of those particular songs, but I'm happy with what I got to cover. It was very refreshing to transcribe these songs and get more in touch with the music I've listened to for over a decade. It will certainly inspire me on my future projects. Thanks for listening, everyone! ^_^"
I was a bit bummed when Alex decided to move on from the Souls series because I didn't know what else he'd be tackling, what else we could expect, etc. What we have here is a breathtaking, inspired amalgam of several great themes from a beautiful soundtrack to a beautiful game - dark, suspenseful, exciting, hopeful, & more - with the same refined orchestration & production quality the artist has consistently channeled with each new work. This is a seismic score, with pieces that evoke the scale & scope of the titular colossi, and Alex has further upped the gargantuan ante by giving us nearly nine minutes of drama, atmosphere, action, & reflection. Translation: it's big. Larry writes:
"Super strong per your usual excellence, Alex! The medley flowed nicely and you always have great energy and depth to the sound when you work with more dense & intense textures. Keep 'em coming! :-)"
Choral and symphonic components are on-point as always, with epic percussion (BIG DRUMS) deserving a shoutout along with some of the almost spectral background arpeggios @ 3'24" - really vivid, tactile stuff. Piano takes over for certain bits and helps the structure transition more thoughtfully between pieces/moods; seamless & interwoven. Even among his many excellent pieces, this ReMix deserves a special place & distinct mention for being downright badass & evoking as much awe, wonder, and emotion as the giants who populate the game. Highly recommended, to any & all.

This remix didn't have to go as hard as it did, but it did. The epic choir and orchestral instruments really sealed the deal for me, especially starting around the 2:30 - 3:00 mark. The soft interlude with the piano and strings was a welcome change of pace and absolutely lovely. Overall this remix told a grand tale, it wove a tapestry of musical awesomeness that gave a powerful and cinematic performance. Bravo!

incredibly moving arrangement, I was speechless when I first listened. I was thrilled when i saw that another SOTC remix popped up, and although it feels completely fresh, it captures the essence of the original songs so well! Fantastic work!

Gorgeous epic orchestral piece with plenty of emotion to spare. It's a bit long but like a great orchestral suite, it's something that must be listened to as a whole. Also I kinda picture the clanging drums as a colossus' steps and it thrashing around. Overall good job.
