Arranging the music of one song...

jdaster64 (Jonathan Aldrich) lends us our first featured Kirby's Return to Dream Land ReMix with this upbeat classical/jazz solo piano arrangement:
"Hey, I've got another Kirby solo piano piece, rounding out my favorite Kirby soundtracks' representation with a tune from Return to Dream Land. Ishikawa and Ando (and this soundtrack and tune in particular) have been two of my biggest influences on harmonic and melodic preferences in recent years, and I generally kept the original structure as faithful as possible while layering on some Guaraldi-inspired variations. Not much else to say, except those left-hand cluster chords were super fun to mess around with. Thanks a bunch!"
This is Jonathan's 5th featured mix and 4th Kirby mix, and the same verve & articulate, dynamic piano chops are present; Liontamer opines:
"First off, total non sequitur, but seeing a picture of a young Vince Guaraldi, I'm wondering if he could be related to virt. :-) We're in the zone with queuing up game & series champions working in their wheelhouses, so here's Kirby series champion jdaster64 bringing his usual piano heat (or should we say coolness, given the source tune). I always enjoy the tone of his pieces, and it's hard not to crack a smile given how bright and uplifting the presentation is. Losing the source's percussion writing here doesn't sacrifice any of the motion and momentum inherent in the theme thanks to Jonathan's jazzy, upbeat arrangement style, so curl up with some cocoa & cookies! :-)"
It's warm AND spicy, with an agile tempo that dances, prances, donners, & blitzens around, suggesting ice skating or similarly seasonal & swift activity. Larry's right, the absence of drums & other instrumentation isn't felt in terms of energy and agility, and Jonathan's again crafted a pleasant, engaging, & inviting mix - enjoy!

WaffleClap's review is pretty spot on actually. This remix feels like it would be right at home in a charming animated film. The remix itself is chock full of charm and a dash of whimsy. Well played and well done overall! :)

At points it felt as if it were part of the soundtrack to A Charlie Brown Christmas...that is, if it was made by Studio Ghibli. Which is to say I loved it.

Pretty spritely, but the tempo calls to mind ice-skating instead of cocoa n' cookies.
