Summary

Interpretation as it is used on OC ReMix refers to a ReMixer's usage of a source tune in their ReMix; it is a primary criteria used in the evaluation of a ReMix by the judges panel.

Guidance

Interpretation is a very subjective concept, as a source tune can be interpreted in many ways, all of which may be perfectly valid. ReMixes are said to have little to no interpretation when they either directly sample from the source tune, when there are few changes to the melody, tempo, rhythm or arrangement of the source tune, and/or when there is little original material created by the ReMixer. Such creations are sometimes called "cover songs", remixes (note capitalization), remakes or "MIDI rips" (derogatory.)
