Bio

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is broadly regarded as the best game to surface on the Nintendo 64, and many consider it one of the best video games of all time. Princess Ruto's role in it is not central, but it is significant. The instruction manual briefly describes her thus: "Zora's princess, Ruto is very much a tomboy."

Link meets Princess Ruto inside the belly of Lord Jabu-Jabu, a great water-dwelling creature. He goes there in search of the Princess to ease the concerns of her father, King Zora, in hopes of receiving the Zora Sapphire from him. When she meets Link she obliges him to carry her around and ends up being used as a tool to surpass various puzzles within Jabu-Jabu's cavernous stomach.

After they leave Jabu-Jabu, Ruto reveals she has a crush on Link. This remains prevalent later on in the game, after the two have grown up. She asserts that she is the woman to be Link's wife, without realizing what sort of destiny awaits her.
