Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

Here it is - the last ReMix of the year 2000. I'd like to dedicate this ReMix to Stanley Kubrick, who directed the film 2001 and sadly never got to see its corresponding year. He was a bleak genius with a mind of pure artistry. It has been a sincere pleasure running this site, receiving SO MANY great + different ReMixes from people all over, and keeping the memory and the music of gaming alive. I thank all of you and look forward to another 365 days of tunage. So, in essence, to summarize: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

This music is basically what I think is going on inside the brain of a hyperactive child who just took a big hit of post-mix cordial. It bursts with sound and colour. A massive sugar rush; not sacchrine, but brimming with crazy energy (and carbs).
The source is classic Kondo, which gives me immense joy. Couple that with this superfun take on it, and it results in one of my favourite mixes. I've listened to this many a time, and still find the urge to punish my ears again and again. My eardrums are completely caloused thanks to this mix. Thanks pretzel. Here's to premature deafness.

ok, I was a fool and listened with headphones, as that is all I have, and my life as I know it is over. ;_;
The modulation on the lead synth itself was cool and well done, but those frequencies need to be curbstomped before they claim another innocent victim. :-(
Otherwise a pretty happy song.

I downloaded this mix back in 2003, when I first discovered about ocremix. Well I had the time of 4 years to think about a review ^.^ Well here I go:
I can remember I didn't listen to it much back then, but nowadays I do. This song makes me moving, whistling and singing and Im not even joking. For example, Im listening to the song at this very moment while writing this and I often just hit wrong letters! Seriously, it's amazing!
This song makes you addicted to it.

It's one of the first remixes I downloaded way back in early 2001. It reminds me of the carefree times before September 11th.
How elastic.

I keep misreading the title as "EcstaticNewYear". Sounds like someone's extremely happy and is overshooting the notes they're playing, or something to that effect. But why not be happy, playing a song like this?
First time I listened to this, I had headphones on, and my ears split. XD But now I'm used to it. Good thing or bad thing? I dunno. No high-pitched squealing is going to stop me from listening to this mix, though. It's awesome, and I agree with everyone else--definitely a fun song. Great job!

I love this song.
And yes, it is a tad painful with headphones, and results in people giving me strange stares (I have yet to see it, but I know they must, I know they must!); but still, this is one of the most fun songs available on this site.
It's this fascinating attitude that the song takes, that makes it one of the few songs that I regularly use to try to explain to friends and family why I enjoy this site so much.
David, thank you for the wonderful music!

I love this remix. I wish there were more songs with that yoshi melody. I love the melody and this song from djpretzel is very good. Why don't you make more with this melody @all remixers?

"But can djpretzel?" Lol. Unhappyly, I only have headphones now. But I appreciate this work. Because I love the original song. Nice work, djpretzel! 2001 elastic new year? No! 2005 elastic new year! :)

Good song. The trebel is a little high for me though. Maybe if the main part was down an octave Id listen to it with headphones. Other then that... a very well organized, dance oriented tune.
8.86/10 Cool

Man, this is so nice. : DDD It doesn't sound too different from the original, yet it's very party like. : D It's one of the first songs that I've heard here, and it's always been one of my favorites. With the Smw2 like music...This has always made me want to dance. : ]

Since the squealy moments were apparently something you had full control over (as though it were a knob you twiddled) it's frustrating that you kept choosing to throw it so high up there. But then again hindsight is 20/20 right... I have things I hate about everything I mixed. I'll stop picking on that particular issue, everybody else already did.
Great mix, very flavourful. I'm suprised I didn't hang on to it at first.
Yummy, thanks DJP.

Ow. no headphones for this one.
Solid overall, some nice, bright instruments (perhaps too bright in some cases). 8/10. not much to say about it.

Heck, the noises aren't as bad as in Mute Radiology. Don't listen to that with headphones. ^^
Well, I've listened to this mix a ton, and I can't stop, really. It's so fun and bouncy. Nice bass in there, a fun beat to go along with it, and some classic video game tunage. Now you can't go wrong with that. :D
