Great, great work overall. There are some tracks I don't fully appreciate, but there are tracks that I REALLY love.
"Mine Cart Misadventure" by Protricity has my preference, although it's not my favourite music from DKC! This remix is excellent, I can't get enough of those awesome distorted guitar parts! The best of the compilation for me without any doubt.
"One Zero One" by Icy Guy also came close to be my favourite track. Excellent rhythm, delicious instruments... I simply love this instrument (synthy organ? bowed glass?) which reproduces the main melody (which can be heard as soon as 00:17).
The "Cave Dweller Concert" remix by Adhesive Boy is very good as well. I love the reverbish xylophone for the main melody!
"Faunaphonic" by zircon got my attention with its excellent use of Roland-like celtic harps, sitars and overdriven sounds for the main melody. Very good atmospheric and ambient track which easily reminds me of the original.
"dolidop do wop" sounds very good overall, thanks to the intelligent use of Rhodes (Wurlitzer?) electric pianos and other sweet and distorted sounds by analoq.
"Boiling Point" is also well done, althrough I'm not really fond of (heavy)-metal, I think I've recognized the guitar used in it; it sounds very close to the sound of the Distortion/Overdriven Guitars SoundFont bank by Kamac, which I've used in my own bank since I've got my Sound Blaster Live!.
"Aerofunknamics" by bLiNd leaves me with the impression that this track was the easiest one to remix, because of its very close side from the original. Which is not bad at all.
The Gang-Plank Galleon remixes also contains some of the most authentic-sounding piano parts I've heard so far from a game soundtrack remix.
"Echoes" is good, but somewhat lacks the sweet atmosphere the original had with the pan flutes.
About the other tracks, they are good as well, but they are not among my absolute favourites, either because they lack some musical stuff (atmosphere, melodies...) necessary to really remind me of the original soundtrack I loved, or either because I did not appreciate the original enough to enjoy the remix as well.
But, to finish, I will simply congratulate all the artists who devoted time to produce those free tracks, and all the persons who contributed to make such a quality free compilation (easily printable CD inserts, WAV recordings so that the music can be put on a CD without any loss of quality...).
If only all my favourite games could benefit from such quality compilations of remixes...
