  1. Video games are most certainly art. Hell, my calculus homework was art. It might be shitty art, it might have no "artistic merit," but it's art because it's not just a matter of "plug in X, receive Y." The only things that aren't really art are those weird programs where there is exactly 1 answer such as "10 PRINT "Hello world!" 20 GOTO 10," and even that's debatable. Anything that requires any creativity is art. Not necessarily great art, but it's still art.

  2. You know, Live and Learn is actually a ludicrously musically robust song. It's just hard to get around the ATROCIOUS lyrics. They dropped it from a five-star song to a one-star song on my Zune (now at the bottom of Lake Austin, RIP NEVAH FOGGIT)

BTW, that wasn't exactly 8-bit. I don't think they can load more than 3 different sounds on any one MIDI, and certainly not at once.

  3. Hallelujah, a good suggestion, and no one has flat out disagreed ITT yet (I THINK)

And yeah, no one says things have to fall into exactly one genre. Just rock, classical, electronic, jazz, whatevs.

With maybe "fast" and "slow" or "vocal" and "instrumental" options.

  4. difficulty does not equal fun

To a certain extent, it does. I'm probably considered "not great," though, so I'm not one to talk. For me, the fun comes mostly from the feeling of moving fast (I'm normally pretty slow so this is sort of unusual for me) and the achievement of doing well and that comes primarily from difficulty.

  5. But... you're being fucking retarded. Why would you do that? That's dumb.

    "Don't post that, it's illegal."

"Wait until the entire board reaches a consensus."

"Maybe IF the author has the entire thing free for download."

"Here it is, potentially giving the finger to the ToS, in all its possibly-illegal glory!"

    Incorrect.

  6. Thanks for the response. Part 2 is coming tonight.

Gollgagh, if you actually meant I WAS mumbling, it's a trifecta of crappy recording equipment, crappy recording software, and it being like midnight when I was doing this. Fear not, next time I'll play at like 8 and maybe bring in my brother who is better at this type of thing.
