  1. Free sample pack from Goldbaby - TheTapeVeronaDRM.

To celebrate the release of our new product (Tape Drum Machines Vol 1) we have created a free sample pack called: TheTapeVeronaDRM.

Contains 142 x 24 bit samples of the Vermona DRM. Recorded on an Otari MX5050 1/4 inch tape machine... plus the original drum hits without any tape love as well.

Each drum sound has also been recorded multiple times for use in Round Robin Layering. This can help recreate the analog feel of the machine.

  2. To celebrate the release of Analog AutoRhythms Vol 1... I have created a little Wav and Rex file pack... and it is free!

The Roland CR-68 is the little brother of the CR-78. It has similar sounds and beats to the 78.

I have selected a few of those beats and turned them into Rex files... and also made one shot drum samples of all the sounds...

Another quirky analog drum machine from the 70's...

You can find it on my free page:

I hope all those who bought my latest product are having fun with those analog curiosities! I sure am... If you want to adds some fresh and interesting analog drums to your drum collection check it out...

  3. I bought an old Marantz cassette machine to muck around with... So logically I had to hear what the 808 would do to it!

Here is the 808 recorded on cassette... 21 x 24 bit samples of 808 cassette madness... Free for all my forum peeps!

Just go to my site and check out the free page... it is near the bottom of that page.

Here a little audio demo of a beat I made with the samples... No processing:

  4. I co-composed a score a three-minute cartoon that a student did, and I had similar problems. The guy would send us a version of the cartoon, claim the timings were locked, we'd compose to it, and then he'd revise it and we'd have to rewrite our music. We finally told him that the next thing he sent us needed to be the locked picture and we wouldn't accommodate any more changes. He got our score, but then he made more changes and chopped our carefully composed music into little pieces to try to make it work with his new version. The final product was a mess.

Inexperienced directors don't understand that a movie must be essentially complete before scoring can even begin. They think you can just write some stuff and stick it in somewhere.

They probably need this done for an end of semester evaluation and are behind schedule. My advice: Explain that you need the final locked picture in order to write a score. If they can't give you that plus a reasonable amount of time to write the score, then get the hell out. They can use their temp track. There's no reason that you should be expected to accommodate this nonsense, especially when you're not getting paid and have never even met the director.

I'm totally with you on this one!

I use to do television jingles... The headaches caused by constant tweaking of the "final cut" use to drive me crazy... Unfortunately the money was good so I just had to bite my tongue and just get on with it...

However freebies are a different story... It seems sometimes the director expects you to spend every waking hour on his project... The reality is he is getting something for free and needs to respect your time and make sure it isn't wasted..

  5. The Tape808 for Battery, Reason Refill , iDrum, Guru and Wav Pack.

    http://www.goldbaby.co.nz/productpage.html

Not another 808 sample! Well actually it isn't... this is 407 samples taken from two 808's recorded into an Ampex 351 1/2" valve 2 track tape machine! That's not all... We also put the 808's through other vintage gear and recorded the 808's naked into a Metric Halo ULN-2 firewire audio card. Then we chose the best samples.

All 24 bit, and all phat analog goodness!

If you can't get a hold of a real 808 then this is as close as you can get in samples... Maybe even better than the having the real thing!

  6. Hi I'm new here...

I run a little sound design studio... Goldbaby Productions...

I think my sample packs are worth checking out... I'm a regular at the KVR, Gearslutz and BigblueLounge forums... If you do a search in any of those forums for "Goldbaby" you will see my stuff is well received.

Before I start trying to sell you anything I thought I would offer this forum some free stuff first:

Visit my site and go to the free stuff page:
