I'm so happy that this finally is posted to the site. I remember listening to it on the Balance & Ruin album and loving it. Thank you Jeremy and Derek, this still gives me chills still after listening to it over and over again almost two years ago now

I just wanted to say how impressed I am with this piece. I don't logon to OCR much anymore but I was always a fan of Derek and Jeremy's pieces. I want to also shout out to all the remixers involved in the project, as a whole it is a true work of art. I particularly loved Trauermarsch though as I'm a huge fan of Mahler
Bravo Derek and Jeremy!!

Lol, we wanted to show off two of the faster bits, so I guess it's easy to conclude the entirety of the 12 or so minutes might be similar, but it's not. There are plenty of tempo changes and I can assure you that the first part of the piece is very much the march we all know and love, and then it undergoes several variations and transformations.
From what you say I'm sure it'll be technically amazing. Thank you Jeremy!

Enough about my interpretation of the original... Your track seems to take things in a slightly different direction, which is of course a big part of OCReMix. The wild strings and the variable pacing create a moaning, wailing quality, like the screams of the tortured, though you temporarily resolve this back to the measured, militaristic cadence of the original, about which I've already written. So your version perhaps combines both aspects, which is appropriate because this isn't a video game, it's pure music. It has to say more, it explains itself without visual aids. It's also free to move between themes in a way that a video game can only do in a cutscene.
I agree. Is the whole piece like this: tempo, style, etc, or is there variation?

I think it's safe to say that you guys have risen the bar on this one. I'm excited for the full piece now!!
-
This is great news!!! Do you guys have a title for it yet? I've been waiting for this one for a long time!
-
So it's been awhile since you said you were going to submit this. Are you still going to? We're waiting!!
-
This is unbelievably great! Are you going to be submitting it soon?

Awesome job as always! Love the 2nd part.

Thanks for the comment. The slap stick sound is actually the taiko drum. It's a patch that has the drummer hitting the sides of the drum. Jeremy and I thought it would add dramatic effect.
I thought they were woodblocks or something.... Anyways I still really like the piece overall.

Yeah I agree. This should pass the judges no problem.

Bravo Bravo!! You two never cease to amaze me. I will now put this on my ipod where it belongs :-P

This is a very different take on the theme but I'm liking it so far. Being that this is my favorite track from the Final Fantasy VIII soundtrack it's great that you two chose to do this. Derek/Jeremy - you said that there will be two halves to this piece. What will the other half sound like? Will there be a demo of that half as well? Thanks and awesome work so far guys!!

So when is the next movement of this lovely Cantata coming out?? I feel like I want to hear more
-
Well since I listened to the second movement first I thought I would listen to the one that started it and wow you guys this is amazing. I mean yes in both pieces you can tell that they were made with samples but were you trying to hide that? To a person without a trained ear you couldn't tell the difference... Anyways props to both of you for putting so much hard work into these pieces of music. They have enriched my life and inspired me and that takes a lot. Much love to both of you.

One question I do have is what organ did you guys use to produce the solo in Fuga Kefka? It's VERY awesome, full, very realistic and I would want to use it myself in my compositions. Thank you

I'm new to this site. I visited today and listened to your piece and I registered just because I wanted to say that it is amazing and you both should be very proud of your accomplishment. I hope to hear more of your work in the future!!

A Falcon, A Whale, And An Unknown Land
in Post Your Game ReMixes!

Derek or Jeremy,
I noticed that there is a song on Jeremy's site already called "A Falcon, A Whale, and An Unknown Land" Am I correct that it will basically be the same as the last one?
The demo sounds good so far.
