  1. Wow. I've been listening to these tracks off and on for the past few days, and I love 'em. My hat's off to everyone who contributed to the project, especially darkesword for organizing the project and for his great write-up on the game itself. I haven't played KA in over a decade, so this was a near-fatal attack of nostalgic glee.

I gotta link these to my sister... Kirby's Adventure was one of the two console games she ever loved. Thanks again, and I can't wait to see the contributors' next mixes. :)

  2. Awesome! At first, I thought this was just a novel interpretation of the dark world theme. Cool samples, excellent arrangement, etc. Like djp said, it made Zelda sound like Zeal. Neat.

But then... then the volume dropped and the credits theme kicked in. I confess that I got a little misty-eyed over here. This is probably my all-time favorite piece of videogame music, and it did my cold, withered heart good to finally see it on OCR. Classic McVaffe piano paired with those phat beatz the kids are so fond of today. It just doesn't get much better than that. The track's been looping ever since. Thanks for submitting this, McVaffe. While I'm at it... thanks for creating such a great site, djp.

I know I'll get around to downloading the rest of the tracks that were posted today, but I don't think I've quite heard my fill of this one yet. :)

  3. Now I'm not a big fan of Soule's original work (gasp), but this is very nice. All of the specific compliments I'd pay it have been given a dozen times by now in this thread: the rich sound, the deep understanding of how each instrument should sound, the general excellence of the arrangement in general, etc. However, I must say that the brass lines in this track are very weak; virtually every time one of them is even audible, there's an over-strong drum-and-string line covering it up. Other than that, no complaints. :)

  4. Wow. I really can't say enough good things about this. I've only recently finished playing Zelda 2 (Zelda Collector's Edition + Hori digital controller = awesomeness, btw), and this track has been looping for several hours tonight. That mellow organ-and-accordian groove-- against all the odds-- fits so well with that peculiar, adventurous feel of the game. For someone who's still got Darknuts and Eagle Knights bouncing through their head, this track is absolutely priceless. It's a must-have track for Zelda 2 fans of both the long-suffering and the recently converted varieties.

  5. Excellent work on what may be the finest orchestral remix on the site. In my opinion, of course. The samples are pretty good, but the sheer quality of the arrangement is where it's at: soft, subtly beautiful segments help to accentuate crescendos and climaxes that are neither garish nor overly simplistic. The little touches, like the hint of the opening theme at ~2:20, really seal the deal. This song evokes that Super Metroid feeling perfectly for me. And yet, I'm definitely seeing shades of Hans Zimmer here. I like this a lot, and I hope you'll do some more arrangements in this style :).
