  1. Congrats, everyone! I was totally not satisfied with how mine turned out, but it ended up winning anyway. Looking forward to the prizes.

I loved it; excellent song choice. I was thinking about using that one as well, but decided against it. But yeah, great job!

I'm loving the stuff I've seen so far, excellent work everyone :)

Oh, and I don't know if anyone else wants to do this, but would you peops be up for a feedback thread? I've been noticing a lot of things in mine that I could have done better, but I think feedback would help me see the things I need to work on for next time.

  2. i'll admit that i haven't read the books yet (or have and just can't remember them) so i can't claim to know how extensive pullman's criticism of creationism is but i know that there wasn't nearly as big an outrcy over star wars or any other film that is based on life outside of earth... a direct contradiction to the big guy in the sky and his design. i don't remember because i was very young but did they line up with torches and pitchforks outside of theatres when ET came out? and even if they did, isn't that a bit ridiculous?

Sorry, this is slightly off the main topic, but in John chapter 10 verse 16 it says, "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold. . ." This could imply beings elsewhere, and I'm not talking about little green men or the like.

Besides that, Zyko, where does it say that life outside of Earth contradicts God?

  3. There shouldn't be any anti-Christian nonsense about this series, in my opinion. It's a fantasy and it so happens to be set with parallels to our life. He decided to use the church as an engine for his story like so many other people (Da Vinci Code, Narnia, Halo [yes, you heard me correctly, they have obvious references for those who pay attention]), albeit, a little openly for what the public is used to. It's just a good story, nothing more, nothing less.

I'm not so sure that this is entirely true. I was reading a Washington post article, and Pullman said the following:

"I'm trying to undermine the basis of Christian belief. Mr. [C.S.] Lewis would think I was doing the Devil's work."

I'm still trying to figure out where I stand on this whole foo-fah of a controversy, but I think that a lot of people have gone way past extreme.

    For example:

Philip Pullman....is a complete idiot and obviously does not know JESUS CHRIST. He is just another moron from hollywood allowing the devil to use him in making a horrible, tasteless movie to entice children and parents to see this ungodly movie. ALL parents, children, teens, and adults should stay awy from this movie and the theatre and people need to call into every theatere around the country and boycott this disgrace. Philip Pullman and Nicole Kidman will be accounted for their involvement in this movie and will stand before the judement of GOD one day. I pray the Lord puts a stop to this and those involved in this movie. People we need to stand together and stand up for JESUS CHRIST and lets minister to the lost and those needing a walk with Jesus especial;ly Philip Pullman and Nicole Kidman and all the producers and directors of trashy ungodly movies that are taking the innocense of our children and the morals and family values away from our families, scools, and society....People and christians lets RISE UP and STAND UP for JESUS CHRIST!!!!!

While I disagree with some of Pullman's motives, I am against boycotting the film. The lady who said the text above is taking it way too far.

I can see how the main message of these books could just be to not follow religion blindly, but why then would the author be trying to undermine the basis of Christian belief?

  5. Does the girl who plays the girl who was played by the girl with nude picture had nude pictures as well?

Well, first of all, did you mean, "Does the girl who plays the girl who was played by the girl with nude pictures have nude pictures as well?"

Secondly, no, none of the actors in the show would ever take nude pictures of themselves. I mean, come on, haven't you heard of Orem, Utah? Probably not Orem, but at least Utah. . .

  6. Well, I'm not sure how many people here either live close enough to want to come, or are even fans of the show, but I thought I'd make a plug anyway.

The Scera Theater in Orem, UT is in the middle of a 3&1/2ish week run of Disney's High School Musical. Now, I understand that it's pretty much half and half; you either like HSM or you hate it, but still! I'm in the production, and I think it makes a bit more sense than the movie. The cast is pretty talented, and it's been a lot of fun so far. Showings are Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 7:30 PM (2:00 matinee on Saturdays). Tickets cost 10$ for students and children, and 12$ for adults.

    So yeah, GO WILDCATS!

  7. Well, this might not be too helpful, but I've found that getting as close to (or more than) eight hours of sleep as possible, will help. Especially in assisting your immune system in its task of keeping you well. Speaking of which, I should probably head off to bed; I'm attempting to conquer that nasty mucous cold thing going around (in my area anyway).

  8. Vine, you could check out the Miscellanious section at hammersound.net it has 2 choir sound fonts.

I don't need the guitar thing anymore, I found one that was good enough. But I do need something else. I don't know what exactly to call it. Some kind of suspended cymbal, that starts out soft, but over the span of a few seconds rushes in louder, like at the beginning of Disco Dan's Braving Tal Tal Heights. Geh, that wasn't a very good description. . . But if you want to listen to the song, it's from Zelda: Link's Awakening, and if you know what it is, I would be greatful.

  9. I'm looking for a really nice, clean Electric Guitar soundfont. One that sounds like the Major Solo instrument on the Proteus E-MU keyboard, well the one from back in the day of old computers. We have a Master Performance System Proteus E-MU keyboard, and that kind of instrument is on there. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, could you please tell me where I could find a nice soundfont for that?
