Mixing guitars in Record. Help me!

Hey all

I was wondering if you guys had any tips for getting a polished guitar mix into your tracks. Mine always sound unnatural and a bit akward.

My method has always been to open up an audio track and an a Line 6 amp device as an insert and dial it in until I find the sound that I like.

Tell us more about how you are recording your guitar and placing it in Record. How are you recording the tracks?

Dunno if you already know this, but it's essential to record the rhythm guitars at least twice and have one panned left and another panned right. Also there can't be too much gain in your tone, as two guitar parts with a lot of gain will make things real muddy.

I panned the rhythm guitars left and right, but maybe there's too much gain like you said which causes it to sound muddy. Any tips?

EDIT: I boot up an audio track with an amp (in this case, an adjusted Power Chord Luv amp) and added a spreader to turn it into a more stereo - type track. Recorded twice and panned to left and right and also set the EQ to the following settings:

LF: + 3.0 dB at 125 Hzwith 2.0 Q Peak Response LMF: 0.0 dB at 445 Hz with 0.7 Q HMF: + 9.0 dB at 3.36 Hzwith 2.0 Q HF: Off (0.0dB)

in which I found online that was recommended.
