Sustain and the Piano Roll

Hi, i was wondering...

When you use your sustain pedal while doing a midi keyboard recording, the notes are all really long on the piano roll, and it is really hard to know where some begin and some end, and cutting the song off at a point is nearly impossible, is there a way i can cut stuff at the end of a clip or make the last chord shorter without cutting off a note from 4 bars earlier?

I had the same problem in FL Studio 6, but it stopped happening when I switched to FL Studio 7.
