Knockout! Ailsean goes guitarless with this lovely, lovely ReMix from SD3 - it is of course the main theme of the series and also present in the first SD or "Secret of Mana" (title screen). Lush piano, layered with watery background pads, with a crystalline bell and airy, immaculate flute / pipe covering the melody. Through in some choral chords as well, and you've got an ethereal angelic ReMix that is just so appropriate for this track. Seriously, the type of quality you'd get on those professional arranged discs is present here, which is all the more impressive as Ailsean's signature guitar-work - usually his forte - is absent. Very well-done, slow dramatic piece illustrating surprising flexibility and adapability - big props to Ailsean, must-download to you.

The timing's noticeably stiff, so it shows its age in that respect, but the overall sound is very solid nonetheless. A conservative arrangement with a more ambient, mellow approach that makes for a nice, relaxing listen.

A pretty nice runthrough of a well-crafted tune. There's a sense of straightforwardness, especially when compared to Nigel Simmons' "Return to Elysian Lands", however, that comparison isn't really legitimate as they are seperated by years of technological and judging advancements.
In any matter, there is plenty of great touches here. I really love the woodwind sound. It carries and makes the mix for me. The choir too is more than acceptable and gives the mix a punch in the arm for its final leg. And it was disguised enough to not sound fake, which is the signs of a lot of attention and well-realised effort.
Simple, not a lot of boundary-breaking, and it definately is a black sheep amongst Ailsean mixes. But it's likable, which is the main thing, right?

This is one of my favorite tracks from the soundtrack and Ailsean improves on it in just about every way. The piano fills out the space well, and accompanying the vibes melody are some peaceful synth gated washes.
The soft white noise (ocean waves I can only assume) that came in with the flute was a great touch and improves the mood even more, as well as the choir.
My one complaint would be that it would sound a bit better if it was lighter on it's feet, so to speak. Less low-mids and more high-mids. Very subjective, I know, but if you don't like my ideas, write your own review.
As far as interpretation, there isn't much; it sticks to the source very closely, but I think it expands decently enough on the original to bring something new.

this is quite the beautiful piece
even when ailsean's not playing his guitar driving pieces, his songs are still insanely creative and impressive
high-quality entertaining stuff right here, reminds me of tidal sequence

this is a top-notch remix, however...it seems to end rather suddenly...cutting off in the middle of a section rather than fading away in some fashion, i'm wondering if this is some issue with my download or if that's just the way the song is?

The title of this song reminds me of the angel statues in the game. When I hear this song, I think of those statues of the Mana Goddess, which watch over the seashores. This mix conjures up both fond memories of the game, and fond memories of my own life. Thus, this mix succeeds as both an arrangement, and a piece in its own right.

Hm...at first I thought it was just gonna be the same sound of the SoM theme with the percussion over and over again. But as soon as the flute came in I stayed around to listen and ... I think this is good song...

Heh, I myself am a big fan of the original, and when I saw it here on OC, I said " Hell, why not!"
So I gathered my courage and clicked the link with all my might, and thus downloaded it.. Now I think this has a good theme to it.. It actually makes you relax, and makes you think there are Angels on the shore.
This is a great song and I think alot of people that visit OC, should just stop for a couple of minutes and listen to this..
