Arranging the music of one song...
"Brinstar - Plant Overgrowth Area"

Well, Anna and I are off to Vegas in a few hours, and we're planning on meeting up with Jordan & Jade at some point while we're there. Beyond that coincidence, I think it's appropriate that Jordan's mix be released as OCR01800, a nice round number, since the story behind it represents the best of what this community's all about. We've mentioned Shariq's Reserve Tank: VARIAtions get-well album before, but it was doubly cool to see bLiNd get better and end up contributing his own track. On top of that, it was great to see J&J together and enjoying MAG as sort of a "VGM honeymoon" - I gave 'em a hard time about it during the OCR panel, but I actually think it's really cool. Mr. Aguirre writes:
"It was great meeting you for the first time at MAGFest 7 as well as all the other people in the OC movement. I dont want to make a list because I know i will leave someone out but I just want to say all you folk are truly genuine amazing people. I made new friends and met old ones face to face and Jade and I truly had a ball. We considered it our honeymoon, even though it doesn't qualify as one, it fit our situation, how we met, who we are, and we didnt want to leave. That leads up to this remix, I originally dedicated it to my wife Jade, who found me through OCR (djp makes dreams come true hehe) since she has loved me from the beginning and helped me through my colitis illness and actually told me to make this remix for the project that was made for me. Go download all them tracks if you haven't.
So I want to thank darkesword as well for making the project. This is considered the bonus track! Its also brinstar (the green area) which was a popular choice for the project. I focused intensely on sound design, there are several movements, its a decent length, I used my jp-8080 for the middle section, and did some cool things to samus' speed booster sound! I changed the chord progressions to make it more uplifting as well. Its been considered my best up to now. BTW I did a dj set at magfest with this track in the middle, I believe liontamer got some footage but it featured all my new remixes, most unheard by the community. So they will roll in this year one by one, with this being the first. Thanks to everyone in the community for lifting my spirits, all the people I met at magfest, and of course my lovely wife Jade. Hope you enjoy the track!"
I do in fact make dreams come true. I've been told this many times. At least once, at any rate. As awesome as it is that Jade & Jordan found each other through OCR, it's equally awesome that they got married in 2008, and of course the year also saw Jill & Andy's announcement as well as Anna & me. Top THAT, 2009! From a significant, Facebook status-changing relationship angle, '09 may not be able to deliver, but musically - given everything else PLUS Jordan's renewed activity - it should be a humdinger. This mix shouldn't need much selling, but I'll throw in that it's some of Jordan's best work to date, elevates his audio production skills to yet another level, and bodes very well for the rest of the year. We're still working on getting MAG video edited in a format that makes sense, but keep an eye out for clips from Jordan's DJ set, and keep an ear out for more mixes. In the meantime, enjoy this very sweetly-dedicated, stellar trance Super Metroid mix!

I was listening to some ocremix the other day and this mix came on and I thought to myself, if I had to pick one remix from all of the ocremix library as the ultimate greatest remix track of them all, would it be Jade Catacombs by bLiNd? And I thought to myself, yes, I believe it is.

The version now hosted IS the version you're referring to, which was 192kbps.

A really nice rendition to the song, it's like eating a delicious pizza.
No one fills out the high end as perfectly as bLiNd.

This song doesn't do the original justice at all.... it completely stomps all over and makes the original look horrible, this track is really that amazing.
If they remake Super Metroid, this should be in there somewhere, maybe after you defeat Kraid or something, seeing as you get the VARIA suit then...
Bloody amazing work, man. I think I'm gonna dance now.

Registered just to declare my love for this track. I can't even count how many times I've listened to it and I never get sick of it. The story behind the album is incredible as well.

This definitely takes the style bLiNd usually works in and cranks it up to a new level. The story behind this mix and how it was eventually included in Jordan's own Get Well Soon album is really touching. You can tell he poured his heart into this just from the length and depth of content. I don't really have much to say about the mix itself, but I do want to comment on what I feel is some of the most fitting and appropriate use of sound effects in any remix, ever. That part was so cool that I almost didn't believe what I was hearing when I first listened to it.
Yay!

I cannot hype bLiNd enough. His music is in the top three of every other composer at this site. I have yet to be disappointed with anything music he's done. It is all download worthy. I only wish the "poor guy"could make money doing VGM too.

Once again, you impress me. Your stuff always seems to make it onto my top 10 most listened to songs. This week I've been hopping between this, Path of Deception, and Beatdrop's Deserted Industry. Keep up the excellent work and keep healthy!

Those drums were on the same channel or something as everything else, because when they go off, everything else dies to sudden quietness, so it's LiKe ThIs WiTh ThE vOlUmE.
Hey, zircon, I've got a great idea for a sidechaining tutorial...

Well... Personally, I thought I'd like this mix. It was very nicely done, but there was one very major problem that just, for me, ruined this one. Those drums were on the same channel or something as everything else, because when they go off, everything else dies to sudden quietness, so it's LiKe ThIs WiTh ThE vOlUmE. Makes it very hard to listen to, is incredibly annoying, and distracts from everything else.
Still, this one has its virtues. It's a very nice interpretation of the original, and has very nice parts. While towards the middle, the fade-out sounds like the end, and doesn't quite match the rest, it comes back in very nicely. I don't think this one would really work in the game, because it doesn't match the ambience, but I can just see short videos on sections from the game, with this music on the background, as a tribute. It works fairly nicely, if you can get past the volume in and out. Nice speed booster about 3/4 of the way through, maybe progresses a little too slow.
This one gets a 6/10 for me. I really liked the piece and what you did with it, but the volume shifts just get to me. I've liked other things bLiNd has done, just not this one.
