OceansAndrew (Andrew Luers) gets back to his roots, while still working in some synth elements, with this hard-hittin' hard rock ReMix of themes from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night & the original Castlevania as well:
"I hadn't done a hard rock/metal track in awhile, and Castlevania is perfect for the treatment, so here we are. This was also a test mix for me using the new guitar I purchased from my good friend Neblix "BROOOOOOO" Ansari, and it turned out really good. It is definitely more geared towards metal than my usual guitar, and the ability to get additional precision on a lot of the more complex rhythmic parts was a lot of fun to pull off. The song happened to be comprised of three of the classic Castlevania themes, and I did what I could to mix them up arrangement-wise. Some riffs sounded really good when mixed."
It's like a Milky Way - you've got the nougat, you've got the caramel, and you've got the milk chocolate... except they're all Castlevania themes. Yes, we still have Halloween candy lying around in the house ;) High energy stuff that works in a generous helping of synths & intros more like an EDM banger, until the giveaway at 0'14" - nice. Some effective use of synths on transitions as well, and I liked the unexpected 2'04" sequence of hits/stops to make way for that lovely SOTN melodic motif. Chimpazilla writes:
"Track is a little relentless, could use a breakdown with less energy as it's in the same speed most of the time, but this is really well crafted. The themes go together really well and the performances rock."
The transitions are fun & interesting enough to have used them to bookend a breakdown section, even going half-tempo for some more ambient noodling perhaps, but in THIS mix Drac ain't got time for that, and I think the relatively frugal 3'37" duration makes that work just fine. Great stuff from OceansAndrew which echoes his earlier work but adds a bit more edge with the new guitar & makes the combination of themes sound fantastic!

Dang, what a badass track right here! I think I can agree that it certainly needs a sort of relaxing breakdown, but it's still prety well-crafted anyways! Kudos to Mr. OA for this killer stuff!

One second, let me catch my breath……… Okay… There we go.
I totally have to agree with the relentless assessment, because this track very literally has no breathing room, but woke me up better than coffee. This absolutely rocks!
I almost appreciate the lack of downtime in a strange way, just for variety sake. I absolutely love ridiculous guitar wankery, but not every track NEEDS to have it. But evaluating this on its own merits standing by itself? I think some space would end up being appreciated; definitely enough solid meet here to make a longer track that still manages to maintain that energy. I also think the ending could use another pass; it's not the most abrupt thing I've ever heard on the website, but for me it came up super fast – but maybe I was just riding the lightning.
I feel like I'm being nitpicky with this remix, but it's really worth your time if you love 1) heavy metal 2) synths and 3) tearing up the steps of Dracula's castle in a carriage, while on fire, while slamming a Red Bull. The Red Bull is also on fire.

This just gets straight to the point. I've got Symphony of the Night nostalgia flooding over me right now. How cool it would to be hear something like this in an actual Castlevania game.

This is a blast - straight, unapologetic fun. If you have even an inkling of Castlevania, give this thing a listen - this remix is a pedal-to-the-floor, window-open-and-laughing straight shot drag race into the heart of Castlevania and right through to the finish. The remixer nailed it!

My best friend loves this game. I like this remix, it gives serious Initial D vibes while rocking out hard.
