Happy Mother's Day! In the fine tradition of jdaster64's "Melody of Love," we've got a sweet folk/rock ballad arrangement of "Snowman" from Mother (NES) by Reuben6 (Reuben Spiers), featuring Gamer of the Winds:
"This is my acoustic cover of "Snowman" from the 1989 video game Mother, the soundtrack of which was composed by Keiichi Suzuki and Hirokazu Tanaka. Thank you to Gamer of the Winds for providing live flute for me. He's absolutely amazing, both at his instruments and to work with, and you should all check him out."
Indeed! The flute here really adds incalculable extra dimension & warmth to the arrangement, and contrasts against the pristine, pure EP tones and wide acoustic strumming. The electric guitar sits a little center & has somewhat unusual processing, but still provides yet another contrast point for a relaxing, intimate piece that still develops and offers variety. Liontamer writes:
"This is a classic theme yet you've staked your claim to a very nicely personalized rendition here. The electric guitar timing felt too rigid, IMO, but it was still expressive enough, so perhaps it's more of a subjective criticism. Solid fleshing out of the theme, Reuben, and I loved the acoustic guitar and woodwind work in particular."
MindWanderer adds:
"It's impressive how slowing it down makes room for the different instruments to really shine. A beautiful but faithful reinterpretation."
I've always been a fan of Jay & Jenny's Secret of Evermore ReMix, and while it had a much sadder vibe, I'm reminded of the beautiful instrumentation and flute performance in particular. Great work from Reuben & Gregory exploring a wonderful source with emotion, patience, & understanding, qualities especially appropriate for the occasion!

I really enjoyed the peaceful yet driving nature of this remix. The acoustic guitar was top notch. I don't know what the instrument is called, but that little wood-scrapey instrument was a nice touch. Excellent job on this!

What a piece. I admit that the electric guitar caught me off guard when it came in. It sounded a bit odd compared to the rest of the song, and a bit out of place, but something about being different while matching the mood of the other instruments made it all the more appropriate. Well done to you both!
