Nigel Simmons returned after a 17-year (!!) hiatus back in July, and not only was it worth the wait, there's more where that came from, as he again explores A Link to the Past, this time with an absolutely epic, dark, & suspenseful symphonic take on "Hyrule Castle" and "Ganon's Message":
"I had this idea in my head of the knights of Hyrule preparing for and leading a battle charge against Ganon's forces in the Golden Land during the great Imprisoning War. This was the result of that."
Epic battle drums intro and right off the bat you've got not only brass but some cool bow-bouncing strings at 0'12", building the tension until BAM 0'27" brass fanfare segues into ginormous choir hits. If you weren't awake before... you are now :) Nigel plays the soft/loud game brilliantly, returning to a quieter state of suspense with perfect slurred legato pitch bends on the strings, resulting in a creepy, surreptitious vibe before exploding back into anthemic bombast at 2'14". The deep male choir & strings at 2'36" almost sound aleatoric, and the build back up is again intense. The 3'25" shout is spine-chilling, and Nigel just generally nails the whole epic, high-stakes ancient battle aesthetic. It's big, it's bold, and in particular the sheer textural variety, diversity of choral parts, and high contrast ratio between soft suspense & no-holds-barred melee are highlights. Tons of detail, narrative development, and rich, persuasive samples make for a badass experience overall; superb work from Nigel, every bit as good as his medley from July. Highly recommended!

At the risk of sounding cliche, this is pretty epic. This was definitely a very strong orchestral remix, the use of the chanting vocals was very well done and the brass were nice and cinematic and powerful. Great job!

Excellent, dramatic orchestral work with a lot of dynamic contrast! You don't hear that a lot on OCR. The 3:30 mark or so was very cool and much like the battle charge you wanted to convey.
