RebeccaETripp becomes our first-ever contributor to reach 100 OC ReMixes! And with Tripp's final segment of her Zelda sky themes mega-medley, she once again does it with the help of wind instrumentalists Gamer of the Winds, Medllix, and Steven Higbee! Since arriving in 2015 with her "Final Fantasy Forest Medley", Tripp has made an impression on VGM arrangement fans with countless new age & orchestral VGM interpretations as one of the scene's most determined and prolific creators. As untouchable as she is with her output, we can understand if that means her head's in the clouds! ;-) Seriously though, Tripp final segment of sky themes from The Legend of Zelda series is a truly fitting way to celebrate her unprecedented feat here:
"This is the end of my Zelda sky themes medley. I wanted this finale to feel weightless. While all the themes in the medley involved flight, heights, wind, or heavenly contemplation, by this end, I hope the listener has mastered the art of flight!
Here is a list of the songs included:
Judge Hemophiliac emphatically co-signed the vision for this concluding section of Tripp's airy arrangements:
"Once again, a lovely medley of themes that pair up very well together. And Rebecca, you have crafted and wove them together masterfully in one cohesive tapestry of sound. It's floats through the air and feels so weightless.
The lack of dynamics is made up for in changing texture as well as changing sources. Things are always evolving even without much dynamic contrast or change.
It's nice to see a small piece being used in the form of Cuckoo Shack. Of course, the Flute Boy as well. That one happens to be one of my favorite little tunes from LttP, I'm happy to hear it receive some coverage. [...]
Altogether this is wonderfully put together with fantastic performances from Steven, GotW, and Brooke."
It's definitely a soothing vibe here, one you'd be foolish to pass up if you're mainly primed for contrast as opposed to measured, gradual evolution. Be sure to check out the previous segments of Tripp's Zelda sky themes medley with GotW, Medllix, and Higbee too, the overall results of which judge prophetik music praised as "a great approach to a thematic concept". Throughout this suite, the listener is truly taken to the skies. :-)
A big thank you to Rebecca Tripp for being an enduring, stalwart, and ultimately singular presence here in the last decade. Her OC ReMix body of work has explored so many games, embraced fan requests, pulled off a ton of strong medleys, and added the strengths of live performers to more fully realize her ambitious ideas. What a mark to leave on the VGM arrangement scene, and we're honored to be a small part of it:
- 1 "Empress Waltz" female mega-medley (11 women musicians)
- 6 OCR album contributions
- 7 hours & 25 minutes of music
- 19 featured ReMixes in 2020 (her most active year)
- 22 medleys
- 32 collaborations (including 20 with Gamer of the Winds)
- 32 Final Fantasy arrangements
- 38 Zelda arrangements
- 40 primary games represented
- 100 arrangements
It'll be a big hill to climb for any other future triple-digit participants, especially arrangers, but we truly hope someone else one day reaches this milestone moment alongside Rebecca. As OCR founder djpretzel said of Tripp when she reached 70 ReMixes, "Rebecca's oeuvre is vast & replete with musical gold", so be sure to explore Rebecca's YouTube, support her on Subscribestar, and -- most importantly -- if you're a fan of her work, share her music with a friend so they too can experience Tripp's magic. :-)
