Bio

Kraid, like Ridley, is one of the recurrent major adversaries in the Metroid series. Being one of the most powerful Space Pirates, the giant lizard is stationed as the boss of Brinstar in both Metroid and Super Metroid.

Between the releases of these two games, Kraid's onscreen image grew immensely in size. While in Metroid he covered only a small part of the screen, Kraid became one of the largest bosses in video game history with the release of Super Metroid, in which his enormous and spiny body takes up more than two screens. In both games he attacks Samus by shooting spikes through holes in his stomach and by throwing claws at her.

Kraid was reportedly scheduled for another appearance in Metroid Prime, but this was removed from the final version of the game. He also cameos in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
