Nothing unlucky about Fri. the 13th when you've got great, free VGM mixes to enjoy - TheGuitahHeroe writes:
"After not having remixed for a while, I got sudden inspiration for an Abandoned Ship remix. This remix took me a total of 26 hours and 3 minutes before the first render of the whole track; and after many revisions, the total time spent on this (spent, not elapsed, lol I wish) came out to 29 hours and 43 minutes (that's almost as good as zircon, right?).
That being said, please enjoy the fruits of my labor :DDD Hope you guys enjoy. Thanks a ton to all who inspired me to remix this track, especially halc, Rozovian, Willrock, zircon, as well djpretzel and OCRemix itself, all of whom I would never have gotten to the point I am today, musically, without. :D"
Lots of thanks :) Speaking of thanks, and Rozovian, I'd like to announce that he, Gario, and Flexstyle are now officially workshop moderators & part of OCR staff! Please welcome them as they continue to assist in the workshop forums & lend a hand to album evaluation as well!
TGH debuted in the second half of last year, but with just two mixes, he's already established an overall electronic style with some good variety & depth, and his third goes a bit mellower with a slower groove, anchored by filtered, gate-pattern trance chords, hip-hoppish drums, and oooohhh - lead solo synth is just plain sexy, as are the syncopated kicks & layered beats that follow. halc writes:
"Yeah, I was more than cool with this when it was on the workshop. Great source tune and arrangement, killer lead synth writing, and crisp sounds and production. It's a little light on the low end, and the percussion was a bit sparse too, but these are minor issues with an otherwise excellent mix."
Sparse perhaps, but well-sequenced, plus they fill out a bit towards the end. Fishy adds:
"Very smooth production. Everythings under control, even when it's glitching up in cool ways. Nice chords to work with. Lots of fun little layers to catch if you care to listen out for them enough."
Really just a chill, laid-back groove mix that sits right in the pocket & excels due to lead synth awesomeness; each new mix from TheGuitahHeroe has sold me even more, and this shows a slower, downbeat side of his game that's just as solid as his more aggressive stuff.
The lead synth writing is where this really shines. You really exploit that lead for all it's worth, and you do it good to. This is one of my favorite songs from you arrangement wise, actually. The source tune is awesome, and this mix really shows it love. Also, those chords at 3:11 and onwards are great.

This one has a really nice groove to it. I can definitely hear things that remind me of halc and Willrock, which makes it even better. :-)
Nicely done!

I would have loved this for the Missingno tracks, but stupid time travel doesn't exist yet.

LIES.
I am the one and only willrock, copy me at your PERIL.
Nice mix bro! I dig it, very halc/protodome/me/rozo... damn you're just like all the new gen OCRemixers rolled into one cohesive chiptune pie.

Kinda like "Drowning Blue" from the Missingno Collection, this was from a source that I didn't really remember (lol, both ship themes...), but found my memory pleasantly right there at the ready once this started. Good memories, that mysterious ship.
Also, congrats to Rozovian, Flexstyle, and Gario. Good picks ;)
