We continue into the next thousand mixes with this slick, chill EDM cut from Chronopolis: Music Inspired by Chrono Cross, featuring album director prophetik music (Bradley Burr) & his take on "Navel of the World":
"I'm no DJ, but I've always had a soft spot in my heart for club tracks, with their oodles of reverb, wide bass, and arrangements that often feature a lot of layering and repeated patterns. This song fit so easily into this style that it only took two days to get the arrangement and basic sound design done."
I love it when a plan comes together; this navel is lint-free, as Brad uses clean, shimmering pads & bells over an undulating, at times syncopated kick & bass. Larry Oji writes:
"Nice transformation here! Good subtle additional writing and doubling to the second iterations of the verse & chorus to provide some variation and a little more density & intensity. It's a fun ride! :-)"
As mentioned, while most of this is straight four-on-the-floor, there are some steps out of that here & there, and the overall soundscape is lush & fully-realized, with a good sense of energy that walks the line between chill & active. Some part of me wishes that the bass was more modulated - subtle LP, distortion, saturation, or FX - to give it more movement & life/differentiation over time, but that's my only real nit, and now it's been picked. Agreeable, well-produced, and having a layered, textural depth that pairs nicely with its energy & momentum, this one's another gem from Chronopolis & more great work from Brad!
