Here are the two songs i'm talking about, so you don't have to hunt them down/rely purely on memory ->
-
Doesn't the "Vacant Flat" theme from Resident Evil sound somewhat like the Brinstar boss music from Super Metroid?
-
Thanks for some of the suggestions, guys.
Other suggestions mentioned here, well...let's just say I don't live in a Tim Burton film .
-
Specifically, an alarm to wake up to .
Heck, I don't even mind part of a track (as that can be cut out), as long as the music in question doesn't get old fast.
-
It's not OCRemix, granted, but the music of Metal Gear 2 (original MSX version) works well.
-
Very slick, and very laid back. I love it !
-
Currently the only video game music I'm using as a ringtone at the moment is Chaos from DDR SuperNOVA
Well, it certainly is distinct.
-
And, as I said, if you're taking your own section, the first presentation of the brinstar theme on flute (least i think it's a flute) would be great.
What software would you recommend for this?
-
My friend said the register at the gas station he worked at had that o_o
It would be awesome if, after every 100th item was scanned, the Extra Life theme played.

Just because it's nice and retro sounding, it sounds like a ringtone to begin with
Excellent. Most of the Chocobo themes seem to work.
-
Just curious. Please, suggest those that would make for GOOD ring tones and not bad ones (too quiet/too loud, not distinct enough, too short, and so forth) .
-
Heard the SMB2 overworld theme during a Marlins road game one time.
Ironic that one of the most popular Mario themes, and, heck, video game theme songs, is from what some consider the "black sheep" () of the series.

Metal Gear Solid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZ6zvMmRaL0
There are some notes/sections that sound very similar.
-
Off the top of my head, some promotional versions of Dance Dance Rrevolution have awful teenybopper music.

This PC is almost seven years old, and is underperforming for what I need it to do.
If you build me a gaming PC, how exactly would you get it here?
-
Damnit, I really need a new phone.

The game music we so love created and continues to strengthen emotional ties to moments in our lives. Now, whether these moments solely dealt with video games or intermingled with unrelated events, is another story altogether...
I feel the same way about the music during the Trench Run in Star Wars: A New Hope.

I disagree. If it wasn't an original composition for a game, I wouldn't call it VGM.
Ditto .
-
Where do you live, sir? At the very heart of VGM itself?!?
I doubt Portland (Oregon) is the nexus of the VGMiverse . I only recognized the tune because it's very iconic to the series.

Two countries, one cup.

"Not available in your area".

I actually heard a number of OCRemixes playing at a laser tag arena in Baton Rouge.
Now this would be great for laser tag.
Edit: I heard another ice cream truck play Dragon Warrior music. I wonder if it's the same one I heard earlier...
-
I just heard the Overworld theme of Super Mario Brothers 2 being played from an ice cream truck. How about you guys?
I must be going out of my mind, but... (VGM similarities)

True, although Plant 42's boss music isn't similar to any of the tracks I posted .
