  1. What's with the volume? I had to turn up the speakers to max volume in order to hear this in entirety or I would've missed a couple of spots.

That aside, I did enjoy this remix in spite of the fact that it is a medley. I get really nostalgic when I hear the introduction to LOZ:LTTP.

On a different level, however, I think this remix is lacking in inspiration. I was hoping for a bit more of the introduction and perhaps some expansion on that introduction piece, not a cheap medley.

Each part of the medly sounds good, but there isn't any expansion in any of the particular parts of it. Each piece seems to be note for note the original in piano form, which isn't a bad thing, but it's hardly an improvement on the original.

The last part of the medly did bother me, and I think this is the biggest complaint I have about the volume issue. I think it was kakariko melody, but I couldn't really make certain because it was barely audible. That's a serious flaw, and I think it should be rectified. I'm not sure what the policy on re-recording music is, but if the Pretzel allows it, you should definately try to increase the volume of this piece.

    4/10

  2. i've said it before and i'll say it again.

this is still the very best vg arrangement ever made and arguably one of the finest pieces of music i've ever heard.

I agree wholeheartedly. Aside from the sound quality (which is eventually going to become outdated with any electronic piece anyway) there is not a single section of this piece that I can criticize. At no point does this become repetitive, nor does it use any gimmicks. It's fantastic.

  3. This remix is fantastic. It's coherent. It feels like Mega Man .

You can kinda see the twilight in the sky with Mega Man jumping from rooftop to rooftop with Zero lurking kinda in the distance just watching and waiting.

Then things start to pick up. Elaboration of the central melody begins. X sees a maverick. Fight ensues and the melody gets more complex and quick.

X gets the better of it and chills again. The beginning segment plays again and it's morning.

Edit: Think "A" by DJ Amuro, but Mega Man style.

  4. This song is fantastic if you relax and take it for what it is. Actually, you should do that with any music that's out there.

This song is much easier to appreciate after a few listens.

About the song not doing frogs theme justice, this song, like the others on this site, are remixing the original melodies, and by doing so (i.e. changing tempo, beat, progression, a few notes, instruments) change the ideas that are conveyed by the melody.

You shouldn't go into any remix on this site and expect the same thing you felt when listening to the original midi. Some remixes lend themselves to the same ideas and emotions that were originally intended by the composers of the melodies more than others.

Get over that and your bias coming into the remix and you'll appreciate what these people are doing more and have a more enjoyable time yourself.

edit: I just read djp's comment on this, and you prolly should too. It's basically what I just wrote, like 3 years prior :P .
