  2. the best advice i can give you is to make sure you actually listen to the genre so you can really get a feel of song structure, what synths would be appropriate, because without a background knowledge of the genre you'll make bastardized "trance" with orchestral instruments as leads and it won't be pretty.

also take note of what really defines each genre; ishkur's guide is a great place to start.

    good luck.

  3. hay i just filmed a 'performance' of TheIncredibleSingingRobot. hopefully it will be on the OCR group soon:

many remixers would take that as an insulting characterization of their creative process.. you might want to clarify.

what you're asking for would be kinda cool though, i was thinking of doing something similar. like a cross between a 'making of' and a tutorial.

    cheers.

kinda cool but the enunciation is horrible. i was thinking about picking up a dx-100 and the banshee to bust out some whitetastic roger&zapp funk :)

  4. all the plugins you just named are known cpu-killers.

are you using any special kind of asio native to your soundcard or just asio4all or something of the like? because after i switched from asio4all to my e-mu 1820m's e-mu asio my latency dropped like 10 ms.

as i understand, a faster processor is directly correlated to plugin performance, so that may be the issue.

  5. Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (GC) - Spent a lot of time with this too (especially the Chao garden). But as I grew up, I realized that this game really wasn't that good, and a lot of the voice-acting overlapped...

Ha? Faker? I think you're the fake hedgehog. You're comparing yourself to me? Ha! You're not even ILL MAKE YOU EAT THOSE WORDS

The voice acting was totally shitty, but it was a fun game. My fucking chaos never evolved :( I got a tails chao from doing one quest on Phantasy Star Online, that was pretty cool.

  6. Yeah, so I've been trying to record my friend's guitar recently and I'm getting an amazingly shitty sound. It sounds like there's a phone-esque filter on it.

Previously I recorded line-in to my e-mu 1820M and got a shitty sound, and even after I got my live mic (an Audix OM5) and tried recording, an equally shitty sound, even though it sounds great for vocals.

I've heard that the SM57 is good for micing guitar cabs, but is there some kind of alternative? Is there some reason I'm getting shitty quality line in to my soundcard dock?

Just fyi he's using a Valvetronix Vox head/cab.

If anyone can point me in the right direction that'd be ace.

  7. hmm, another work by none other than chavous. lets see.

did you intentionally want the drums to sound kinda filtered? because they do.

it seems like it's mastered a little soft to me, maybe normalize it? i also really dont see the maroon 5 analogy :P

this is pretty chill though. i'm familiar with that sax soundfont, and it'd probably sound better an octave down.

get a black soul singer and you got this song DOWN. haha.

that epiano is really sweet too.

    nice stuff yo.
