that's not what i meant. i mean like there's something with garageband that's preventing it. any knowledge on what mics DO work?

So I've been looking for a microphone that is compatible with Garageband on a Mac mini for the purpose of recording some guitar. i've bought four different kinds, all of them I have been told to work... but none of them do. are there any Garageband users that could help me fix this problem? I am getting sort of irritated at this point because I have a Roland Fantom X8 keyboard with acoustic sounds on it, but they aren't exactly the way I would like. Plus I would much rather say that I actually played them on real guitar =). The Fantom connects to the mac just fine, it's just getting recordings on there that is a problem. Any help would be great.

dunno if it's too late but i can play the main theme and bowser's/koopa theme on guitar

Fantom X8 made by Roland. midi, weighted keys, plus about 1000 different 'soundfonts' i guess? plus drum settings.

Fantom X8 keyboard made by Roland. that's what I have, and it works really well. holds 16 tracks per song =D

wow, synth. you still have that as your sig?
by the way, i was also wondering how to directly record electric guitar but the only thing is that i really didn't understand anything you posted. can you possibly explain on a much lower level?
