So...not entirely. but I'm back gentlemen, it's been a long while, and my freshman debut put me out on top, and I haven't had time to do any submissions since then. I realize it's in vote phase, so I'll wait for the next re-up, but I'm hopping back in, and it's good to see some of the folks that were here when I was last still kicking. See you soon!

WCT - The Writing Competition Thread [Short Story Results]

Hey guys, I'm sorry but I'm not going to be able to write for this one. My hours have jumped through the roof, and whilst in mid-air, have grabbed a jet pack and have continued their ascent towards the stratosphere. (I work 7 days a week, 16 hours a day. I work for Barack Obama's Presidential Campaign in a crucial swing state...so I don't sleep much.) So, to recap, I can't write for this one. I'll jump back in the pool post November 4th, but for right now I don't even have enough time to sleep, much less write. Good luck fellas. -

I always knew the dedication of members of this forum was above and beyond the average human being's capacity! *wipes away a tear* You guys are teh roxors! Seriously though, I really do appreciate everyone trying to get around to it. My work has been keeping me in the office pretty routinely until midnight or later, so I haven't had a whole lot of time to write critique. -

Beuler? I work 14 hour days for a political campaign guys, come on, my brain is fried. I'm trying to get my critique done, but I thought there'd be SOMEthing up about the submissions before I sent mine in. Pleeeeeeeeeease critique mine? -

Seeing the critiques that have been written in the past, I would REALLY appreciate if people could critique. I'm incredibly busy myself (I work from 9AM to whenever, which is usually after midnight) but I will do my best to reciprocate. I'll try to be harsh but fair. -

Hey Random, I wanted to ask you about what your inspiration was for your poem. -

Aww, thanks guys! I've never won a writing competition before...I just knew what I wanted to write about and put a lot of time into it...it almost seems like the pen did most of the work. I really liked "The Walk" by Random Hajile, it's a well crafted piece, and I loved the flow of the rhythm, so I wanted to say, Random, that I thought it was really well done. Okay, back to my 14 hours a day job -

PS: How does the voting go and such? When does that happen? Is that in the rules section and I just haven't read/found it? -

Here's my submission, just under 3000 words. It's one of a series of stories I'm thinking about putting together to try to describe the paranoia, death and horrible civil strife that encapsulated Northern Ireland for so long. Enjoy! http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dfgmdpn2_0dghnppc5 (Gotta do it this way because of the character limit! ) -

I'm not writing in Joyce's style, mostly because it's so individual and extremely difficult to replicate. It's my own style of writing, hopefully folks will see what I'm trying to get at. (Little nervous as it's my first competition submission. Lots of editing/revising!) -

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum but not to OCremix. I've been checking out the music here for three or four years, and when I saw this writing competition going on, I thought I'd get involved. I'm cooking up something as we speak! I recently graduated from Kenyon college with a BA in English and a concentration in Irish Literature, so I might be tilting my writing into that vein, but then I'm a gamer too, so expect a little of the fantastical. Can't wait to see everyone's submissions!
