  1. Cool tune!

I like this a lot. A slightly spooky open atmosphere!

If I could offer any sort of advice from my opinions, it would be to raise the overall volume a touch, and to maybe try to add in an extra harmonizing melody in the second half.

Also, the echoing drum beat you have going is great, but the hard 'click' of the sound seems to clash a little. I wonder if you can dampen that sound without compromising its role in the song.

    Great job! It's a wonderful listen. I FEEL like I'm in a graveyard :-P

  2. New Version:

dannthr: I've added a lot to this new mix that should hopefully fill the void.

jabond23: I've added delay and reverb as you had suggested. I enjoy the sound more this way, too.

I've added drums substantially, also, despite that the original intention was to leave that open.

HoboKa: Hopefully the drums that I've added, as well as the amount of melodies added help to fill in that atmosphere.

I've also added a lot of new melody that will hopefully fill this in as more of a remix than an homage.

I've tried to equalize as suggested, though I'm not sure if I'm getting it right. I've got a very good equalizer at my disposal (Parametric EQ 2 - FL Studio 8.) and I've watched tutorials.

Thanks very much to all three of you for the advice. In terms of getting feedback, this thread has been very successful thus far over some other ones.

    Peace

    Prayer:

    Lost Painting Prayer.

This WIP is a mixing together of two of my favorite tunes from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. 'Lost Paintings' and 'Prayer'. In the second half is a small addition to the two tunes.

The mix is fairly minimal, with the emphasis being on the synch of the two separate tracks.

    Enjoy!

    Transylvanian Magical Spell.

I think this tune rocks . It's very short, and I could have easily repeated the main section to stretch it out, but I figured one can always hit repeat if they are itching for more.

Please let me know your thoughts!

Above link is to Version 3, created this weekend.

I basically took out a few melodies, and worked on others.

Rozovian, thank you for all of the advice. This version was created before I read your comment, so I will see what I can work on next.

I'll check around for FAQ's and guides, but are there any quick tricks on how to up the production quality of the song.

Glad you two enjoyed the experimentation and elaboration

^ Above is the link to V2 of Retro Enlightenment (retitled)

I changed out the synth bass for a more traditional bass, but left in the synth with a more minimal use. I added panning to all (or most) of the different instruments. I changed out the main string refrain for a wind. I changed A LOT. New melodies, especially in the last minute of the song.

Hopin' more people comment. I think this is unique and good, but maybe I'm being biased from having made it? If you like it, please let me know :-P

^ New link for hopefully unlimited downloading

    NOT NEW VERSION! Still V1.

Thanks for the comments, Gevin. I agree that I should add something to the last few minutes to spice it up. I will work on that for sure.

I have no problem with the idea of scrapping the synth bass I have for a bass guitar, and doing so would be quite simple the way that I have the song laid out. However, I'm fond of the hard crunchy synth for that 'Underground BGM' feel. I will work on reducing the tone of it, and maybe I'll try playing around with a compromise as well.

So, things to be worked on this weekend:

-Add more to the last 2 minutes to allow that section to stand out from earlier parts.

    -Change the bass.

Thanks very much for the comments (and compliments).

And I forgot to post the "lyrics" (vocoded and hard to understand)

"Star of wonder and might shine,

Down on flowers with light lines."

^ Link to file will apparently only allow (10) downloads.

What's the best place to post these files on? First time submission of anything to this site.

Pointers on the song are of course the whole point of this, but if anyone cares to direct me to good resources, guides, any help for FL Studio, it would be much appreciated.

I had planned on changing this, and have been listening to it on my playlist a lot as is. My gut says it can be shortened.

    Thanks guys (and girls).
