  1. So, random story:

I played some TF2 yesterday for the first time in like forever. There were about 6-8 people in the server, 2 of whom where nQa guys. We all agreed to do melee only, which was cool, but after about 2 or 3 kills, one of the nQa guys would start using other stuff, like uber charges, jarate, sentries, flare guns, etc. I'd ask them to stop and just do melee only, like we agreed. They went back to normal kills for about 3 min or so before they started adding "extracurriculars" again.

Events like this are why I've never enjoyed playing with any of the nQa guys. They don't break the rules, and they don't grief, but they don't have good sportsmanship. It's just not fun to play with them.

ok this is really just getting to pissing and moaning now. i was one of the ones on then and the medic was some random pubbie who started ubering. i'm guessing you were on the other team with the natascha heavy who was constantly shooting as well but i guess that was just curricular...

  2. When teams have a good class make-up, players on both sides who will risk going for intel and balanced teams so that nobody is rolling each other, then ctf_sawmill is better than koth_sawmill. I've seen games of ctf_sawmill go very well and I've seen them be a borefest. But koth_sawmill is always the same; an infinite chokepoint that gets captured by a good team and stays that way.

I notice that we have two custom 5-cp maps, cp_waste and cp_follower. Both are pretty good but we might consider adding cp_freight, which I consider to be a good map. I know a lot of people here have mixed feelings regarding 5-cp maps for whatever reason but people still seem to have fun as long as teams are fair and the game is moving along.

I guess we already have a lot of 5-cp maps in rotation and I'm probably pushing my luck by recommending another one but I felt I should bring it up. Heck, I would have suggested cp_stag but I knew that one would get shot down.

i love the 5 cp maps but no one votes for them. there was like 3 mapvotes in a row where granary lost even to a crappy map (forgot what it was)

  3. A couple of other servers I've started to make like home with have a plugin that goes "<player> is trying to stack the teams! For shame!" or something like that when someone tries to switch back after a scramble. Obviously, it also denies him the teamswitch. Not sure what the plugin exactly is, I'll bug the admins about it sometime.

lol I saw that on one server too, it was pretty comical

  4. [quote name=DarkeSword;598611 Last night was nice; about 5-6 nQa guys on the server with a fairly even split. Some good matches too. I could have done without the constant mocking of the server rules over voicechat (it came across as little rude)' date=' but it was mostly harmless so I didn't bother mentioning it.

    Also: hackpipes.

Yeah last night we were completely split. I wouldn't say it was mocking though as people were repeatedly sticky camping the doors. Not to mention batting the sandman through the gates which I would consider an exploit (and don't say it isn't because Valve hasn't fixed it yet).

  5. I'm beginning to think you have me confused with someone else, because while I do have a mic, I rarely talk.

And rarely if I'm spectating, for the reasons outlined above.

Perhaps you have me confused with Brushfire?

Sorry I think you're right I think it was Brushfire. I must've had you two switched because I think both were in the game at the time.

If I saw that you guys had respect for this community, and interacted with it more than just to play-to-kill, I might be singing a different tune. ZUZ receives the teamstacking complaints that you do, but are highly respected among OCR, why? For one, they actually talk to us, participate in forum conversation as well as in-game. Second, they do not blatantly shirk the rules. They do enjoy playing together from time to time, sure. When a teamscramble happens, you don't see them jumping to spectate so they can switch teams. They don't have to be reminded not to sticky camp spawn doors, no matter how silly that rule is. At one point I found myself reminding an nQa person not to do that once each day. And I had to wonder how often it happened and was not caught.

Actually the one night I got tired of sitting in spec after 2 minutes with 2 other ZUZ members that I just finally joined red instead of stacking so I do see them do it too.

Also someone please help vivi out lol

  6. First of all, I rarely ever spectate. If I'm spectating, it means I'm

    1. Watching specific players to see what they do or checking reading the console logs. This happened on Yukon this weekend, and only for part of the map. I'll get to this more in a moment.

    2. Going AFK for a few moments (and the server will kick me when the idle time is exceeded).

    3. Changing a server configuration file. This happened on mach4 last weekend.

I forced a scramble twice this weekend.

The first was on Granary. Immediately after the scramble, two people went spectator, unbalancing the teams. I can only assume this was to force it to team balance, so people could then (maybe) switch teams.

I also forced a scramble on Yukon. This was after I reviewed the logs and noted that only one of the three people I knew to be nQa guys choose a random team (and the other two joined RED, the same team the first person auto-joined).

After the scramble, I watched what happened, then left the server and began writing this post shortly after the third member switched teams to BLU (where the other two had been scrambled to).

This is not the first time nQa has been called out for this. The last time I saw was when Brushfire called this out (why I remember it was on Badlands I dunno). At that time several nQa members changed their nicks... which you guys have been doing ever since*.

So no, this is not the first time this has happened, and given that three of the people we have problems with are the nQa League Team group's 3 admins, no, I'm not going to stop and complain about them to themselves.

    * until I called you out on it.

At the time you were spec'ing you were pretty much just talking in game, I actually had to mute you after about 20 minutes because it was distracting.

I remember being on granary and the map was actually pretty stalemated. I don't see why you would scramble just because 3 people from a team were on the same side. At that rate, should every player who joins be autoing?

I'm not trying to start a fight or anything but let's be real.

  7. I personally have no problems as long as the stacking stops. My current policy is warn once, then it's a ban. Everyone knows the rules; it's possible the RNG just stacked things and nobody was paying attention, but if you're part of a clan, and rolling the other team, you should be thinking about switching to even things out a bit.

I know miyako has been actively trying to keep team balance, and I'd hope other people would consider doing this as well. Scrambling teams is a crap shoot and can just as easily make things worse, so if people were conscious about self balance that'd be ideal.

I should also point out that losing doesn't mean teams are unbalanced. I'd rather lose a few rounds than sit in stalemate over the middle point in a 5cp map for 30 minutes.

In my experience scramble has always been terrible, I remember one time on badlands on our own server we were split equally on the teams and the scramble trigger hit. The next round it scrambled everyone in the clan to the other team except me. I thought it was completely rigged.

The one night on OCR the scramble actually went through when we had 3 guys on, 2 on blue and me on red and we all got scrambled to the same team. So I can vouch that scrambling is not a reliable method.

Thanks Rambo - it was actually pretty tough to find lol I had no idea the site was this big.

  8. Now, on to another subject: The nQa guys have been team stacking again. It's harder to detect these days, but I happened to glance at Minty-Fresh's HLStatsX page just recently and saw his old -|nQa|- name in there.

(The other problem people were Axem Green and Bababooie, who also used to have -|nQa|- names.)

They were later joined by AH YADADADADTATATDATADATADDDAAA and spaghetti cat (also an -|nQa|-)

It wouldn't be a problem if they sucked, but unfortunately, that's not true. Which resulted in the server being down to something like 5 people a moment ago.

When teams are scrambled, they switch to Spectator until they can rejoin their nQa teammates rather than staying on the new team, which immediately results in teams of uneven sizes.

I recommend a blanket ban on the -|nQa|- members that we run across, particularly if they are members of the nQa League Team.

I didn't realize there was such an outrage from reading the last 5 or so pages of the forums. We do enjoy playing on the server, however it's quite a burden to stay tagged on public servers when you're from a competitive team. As soon as someone gets dominated they're going to cry hacks or if there are 2 on the same team the stacks and votescrambles roll in. I will admit over the weekend we were a little over the top so we'll try to tone is down. However, I personally work 40/hrs a week and play competitive during the week so it's nice to get together and rack up some doms sometimes.

I'm a bit disappointed in your recommendation of a blanket ban, particularly as one night I was on you sat in spectate for 2 entire map changes (~40 minutes?). As admin you have the power to scramble and adjust the teams as necessary or warn when the stacks occur and neither of those occurred during the time I saw you on.

I can also tell you that I personally have not been approached once or talked to in game about stacking. I also regularly see other clans doing the same (you keep stats I don't need to call them out) - not saying it's right but if you're going to take action you need to do it equally to all.

    Thanks,
