  1. Hey guys! Hope everyone is having a great holiday season at OCR!

I just thought I would share something I have been working on for a while for my Youtube subscribers, and just recently finally finished. About a year ago I decided to take on the task of remastering (that is, importing MIDIs, replacing instruments, and mixing and mastering myself) every song for one of my favorite soundtracks, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red/Blue Rescue Team. Anyone who knows me here on OCR should know that, haha...plus I thought it would be good mixing practice.

And finally after about a year, with plenty of life's impediments along the way, I've completed the project to a point where I"m satisfied with it! And since this is a community dedicated to the appreciation of video game music...well, I thought I'd post it here for anyone who might be interested. Even if you haven't played the game or listened to the music, I'm hoping you'll be able to enjoy it--such was my intention!

My purpose for the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Remastering Project was to remaster every song from the first Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game, Red/Blue Rescue Team. In my opinion, the soundtrack, composed by Arata Iiyoshi and Atsuhiro Ishizuna, is one of the most beautiful collections of music to be found, and my goal was to bring each track to life through remastering, and in some cases re-orchestration. I hope that by taking on this task, this music can be enjoyed by more people and with more enthusiasm than ever. I believe that such powerful music should not be limited to the confines of a video game.

And finally, as of today, the project is totally complete, and ready to be downloaded!

So there you have it...every track is there, with the exception of fanfares, SFX, and atmospheric/nontonal tracks.

Hope you enjoy it! And have a happy New Year! :)

  2. To say something about the whole contest....I always enjoy these competitions just because they really get me thinking about how to mix up styles making so any remixes with the same source. I said the same thing about the RMRB back in 2011 and the WCRG in 2012. They've helped me become a better and more flexible remixer and musician :)

Big thanks to SuperiorX for running such a great competition, and all the competitors for making the contest what it is and being such awesome people :D

  3. Hmmm... I'd be ok with that if you are. We could just bump the timeline out a little. My only concern was when I talked to Pete yesterday, he hadn't even had the chance to start a track yet and then he was doing a show last night and another one tonight. So it might not be a matter of giving him time to 'finish'; in the sense that if he only needed a couple of hours to finish up what he was working on, but more of I don't think he ever got the chance to even start something. So I'm not sure how that would impact the timeline, nor do I know if he'd even have the time these next couple of days to do something. Hopefully he'll hop online here in a bit and share his thoughts.

In the event he's not able to do anything, then I think I'm inclined to let you and ladyWildfire begin working on your tracks this week and have them be due 2 weeks from today on Sunday, April 6th. If you two are both cool with that.

I'd be cool with that..These next two weeks are gonna be the last two weeks I'm remotely free to do anything haha, so it works for me :P

  4. Well it's been an hour after the deadline and I haven't heard from Pete, so I'm assuming he wasn't able to complete a track. So here is the Robotnik Round 4 track from TheGuitahHeroe!

Hey, am I allowed to give Pete a bit of extra time to complete his track? I would hate to advance to the finals by default...

As for the time to mix (should Pete not be allowed to finish his track), I'm good for anything.

EDIT: I'd like to give Pete by the end of today or tomorrow to finish his track, and if he doesn't have anything by then we'll start the final round then. Is that alright with you, Beth?

  5. My mind is blown on how you can get most of it done so early in the week. No matter how much I work on the mix throughout the week, consistently 85% of my work is done between the hours of 10pm and 3am the Saturday before the deadline.

I guess I just need to feel the pressure.

For me it really all depends on how inspired I am (I'm extremely competitive, lol) and how well ideas flow for me... I've been fortunate enough throughout this compo to really not have any writers block at all so far, therefore I've been able to just kinda bang out my tracks in a few days.

I remember I got some SERIOUS writers block in the Mega Man remix compo in 2011 against Prophetik in the semis. It led me to attempt dubstep for the very first time....wasn't pretty :P

  6. I don't even have work or school all week and I still think I'm going to die before Saturday

I hear you...this is the first week of the compo where I haven't had something IRL take up half my week hahaha...

Although my 21st birthday is on Friday. That means in all likelihood I won't be even halfway functional come Saturday :P

I have the bulk of mine done as of now, really just finishing touches to do now. Should be submitted either today or tomorrow

Introducing my second full-length album, "I Am"! As I'm sure some of you know I've been releasing music under the alias of my real name, Jamison Randall, for a long while now (which explains why I've been pretty inactive on OCR). I've taken a huge loving to producing original music, mainly electronic dance music.

    Tracklist:

    1. I Am

    2. Once More

    3. Circles

    4. Welcome to Reality

    5. Grand Scheme

    6. Centerpoint

    7. It's Okay

    8. Maybe (ft. Category5)

    9. Once More (Nils Ernst Remix)

    10. Once More (Silva Hound Remix)

    11. It's Okay (Astra Remix)

You may realize that some of the tracks I have released before on previous releases. The versions on this album have been improved, re-hashed, remastered, and mixed better; mainly because I believed that they deserved to be cleaned up and released again on Beatport, iTunes, and the like!

"I Am" has been released via Addictive Vibe Records. To quote the Beatport description of the album:

"Featuring 8 tracks from all across the EDM genre spectrum, as well as 3 heavy remixes from great artists; "I Am" is a perfect album to either get yourself up, or settle down to. Danceable, melancholic, and hopeful; "I Am" is sure to bring to the table something you will love!"

So if you're a fan of electronic music (and I know a lot of you are!), please consider supporting me and my music by buying the album! Even if you only buy one track, trust me, every little purchase goes a long way and helps me out a ton--probably more than you think it does!

And more importantly, even if you don't buy it, please share it with friends! :)

    Thank you!

    - Jamison Randall (TGH)

  8. TGH is not participating because he thinks he's too good for OCR now.

I was directed by a friend of mine to this quote and it made me lol. I really hope this wasn't a serious statement. ;-)

If it was, I'd like for you to stop being so quick to assume things. For the record: I'm still making remixes from time to time and still submitting them (albeit not nearly as often as I used to). I admit I've grown away from OCR to a degree to concentrate on personal original music, improving my craft, as well as real life happenings.

To anybody who wanted to believe this, just wanted to clarify things :)
