Congratulations guys Downloading the album in FLAC format.

This is why I have a hard time giving critique. Because I don't want to be all like "IMO" after every sentence. Can't please everyone :9
hahaha yeah, I know that feeling But don't worry, it doesn't mean I didn't appreciate your feedback.

Production sounds good. It could sound a bit more clear. The bass is a bit too overwhelming compared to the other sounds.
Oh, you think so? I kinda liked it as it is. I'll see what I can do.
Thanks for the feedback

Pretty good track, I totally agree with last 2 posters.
BTW, I still have your track "Shoebox" in my Cowon player, cool stuff.

Hey guys,
I left this project in stand by for quite a while, until I finally decided to keep working on it. I updated the link in the first post.
The track is unfinished, and I keep feeling that there's still a lot of production missing in order to it sound "pro". As this is my first chiptune-ish track, I'd appreciate any feedback that could help me make it sound better.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks guys. As I said earlier, I need to show a friend that metal must not necessarity have compression on it in order to sound good, so these tracks will do just fine
@Nekofrog: nice, I'll be checking out your stuff too.
-
Thanks for the recommendations.
All this comes because I'm having this discussion with a friend. He says metal can't sound "heavy" without compression, and I'm trying to prove he's wrong.
-
Try some thrash metal from the 80's like Dark Angel, Overkill or Kreator.
Thanks, I'll be checking out those as well.
-
Hey Brandon!
Thanks, I'll check out that album.
-
Dear people,
Please I need you to help me finding metal bands that use no (or very little) compression.
Thanks in advance!
-
Looks like it's finished already. Not 100% satisfied with the ending, but hey, what the heck
-
Sounds too much like the original.
Yep, that's what I intended Keeping it just like the original -similar instrumentation, similar structure- but adding a metal touch. As I said, it's not meant to be a remix.
As for an ending, I think I've already come up with an idea.
Thanks for commenting
PS: Is it just me, or Soundcloud is down?

I always thought this game had an amazing and terribly underrated OST, so I finally decided to work on a remix of one of the tracks. However, as my other videogame related work, maybe it's a bit conservative to be considered a remix, so let's just call it a "tribute".
Here's the original track:
And here's my WIP:
(Updated)Sorry if the synth guitars are too crappy.
Any comments and suggestion are totally welcome, as I'm a bit stuck - don't know how to continue/end it.
-
Thanks for your reply, it was very helpful I'll check out Pianoteq demos on YouTube.
-
And if there isn't, what's the most realistic sounding harpsichord synthesizer you know?
Thanks in advance guys

AWESOME!! I'm really enjoying it... just maybe a bit too overcompressed for my tastes. BTW, I agree with the above, cool vocals!

Hi there! Just wanted to share with you this new track of my band, Izkemia. It's called Neologismo, and it's the 5th track of our 3rd album, called Involución.
I hope you enjoy this as much as we enjoyed making it. Comments and feedback are welcome! (NOTE: switch to 720p for better audio quality).

Thankssss, really appreciate your help. Thanks to all of you my kickdrum is sounding a lot better now
-
I see, thanks for the explanation. I'll meddle with transients too then
EDIT: YEP! That was it I meddled a bit with transients and it started souding like I wanted. Thanks!
-
Thanks for the replies, guys.
As for transients, I've heard a lot about that, but never really understood what it means Do you know where I can find a "for-dummies" explanation?
-
Hey, maybe you're right! I'll do some tests. Thanks for your post.
-
Try using a hi-pass filter at around 80Hz, make a considerable dip in the mids around 800Hz, and boost the 3-4KHz area. Try picking a kick sample that doesn't have alot of bass. In music like this, the bass is mostly filled with bass and guitars so the kick has to be pretty clicky for it to be heard.
That's very similar to the EQ I was trying in the first place. It is close to the sound I want, but for some reason it keeps sounding...I don't know, kind of "too thin". Maybe I need a compressor or something else? I'm kind of a noob in this...
Oh, and of course, thanks for your reply

Hey guys! Happy new year to everyone
Well, I really need help EQing the kickdrum so it sounds like this one:
I don't like that song/band, but I do like the kickdrum sound. I've watched several EQing tutorials on YouTube and have done some research, but I still can't get a sound like that on my kickdrum (I'm using Drumkit from Hell samples).
Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance

i'm not familiar with the original so i can't comment on your interpretation of it or any artistic deviance from the source, but i love what i'm hearing compositionally. real reminiscent of the quaint charm sakuraba imparts his golden sun/tales of symphonia town bgm with.
that said it think the production needs to be brought up to snuff. the instruments sound nasally and they don't each have their own breathing room yet. i think you can work on trimming some eq fat for each instrument, and more emphasis on dynamics would make this piece huge, articulations and volumes are pretty non-existent at this juncture. the nature of the samples you're using also demands that they simulate actual human habits and idiosyncrasies, more commonly known as humanization and that's probably the area most lacking in what you currently have. approaching the sequencing by having the mindset of the player behind each instrument as you go through the piece will take you pretty far
best of luck
Thanks A LOT for your elaborate feedback I still have a lot to learn and improve, and this post of yours certainly will help me to do so. Sadly, I don't have time to work on this now, but I'll resume working on this piece at some point in the future and will try to put into practice everything you said.
Thanks again
