thanks for the tips, i'll play around with getting things in a more even spread across the sound spectrum (also i'll see if i can make those chords a little more interesting). Thanks again EDIT: Revised version here. I played around a lot with the panning, as well as the equalizers on a lot of things. Also I changed some of the tones of the base and the background synth so it wasn't alllllll the same chippy sound. http://soundcloud.com/manamaniac/raveattheclocktower-revised

Hey OCR, it's been a long time since I've posted. Anyway, here's a WIP that I want you guys to take a listen to and see what you think about it. I've learned a lot over the past few years and today I was sitting down playing with some oscillators in FL Studio and after a few hours of work, this is what I've come up with. Hope you all enjoy, and feedback is appriciated. http://soundcloud.com/manamaniac/raveattheclocktower

i agree about their permissions, but one of the rules of ocr (to my understanding) is that the music remixed must have been originally composed for the game (tetris excluded) and a few of the CC songs were made as original pieces of music by newgrounds users before the game was made.

the music from castle crashers all came from newgrounds.com's audio portal. some of the tracks were made specifically for castle crashers but some of the songs were already posted and just used in the game. i don't know if this has anything to do with it but it seems like those songs would break the rule "the song remixed must be an original composition from the game" or thats why i haven't ever looked into remixing them. i might be wrong about the eligibility though

just commenting on how different these two versions are. I was looking around here for the first time in a while and listened to your first try and then the new one right after. It is sounding much better, especially the bass. I very much enjoy what you did to the bass. that said, I think that this mix still tends to drag at parts. There are parts that seem repetitive when you have the melody going. Maybe adding a counter melody with a different instrument, or even the same, when you have melodies repeating. Having a counter melody or harmonies could help take out the repetitive feeling that I'm getting. There was a section towards the end where you did repeat the melody with a harmony and it made it sound like less repetition while still being the same thing. anyway, I still am blown away by the growth between this and your first shot at this. good luck with this one -

I really enjoyed this mix. I think the sounds/instrumentation used gave it a very unique feel and I really enjoyed the percussion parts. I do feel though that the contrast between the ambiance in the first part of the song and the upbeat, louder sections in the ending are a bit too different for my taste. Maybe a transition using something thats not as... tempo happy? Anyway, I did very much enjoy the mix and hope to hear more from you soon. -
wip Snowboard Kids Big Snowman Idea

thanks guys for your input. I think i will keep it acoustic and fill out that sound. I'll post updates when I'm able to sit down and come up with some more. Thanks again, feedback is always the most helpful tool a person can have in my opinion. -
I was up late a few nights ago and this idea popped in my head. I'd like to take it somewhere but right now I'm not sure where I'd like it to go. The main conflict right now is whether or not to keep it acoustic based or to transition it to the distorted sound. Anyway, if you have anything you'd like to suggest or comment on, feel free to. Does anyone have any tips/suggestions for getting a good sound while still keeping the latency relatively low when using FLStudio 9? I like the idea of being able to use my MIDI keyboard to program the notes in, but I can't seem to record everything nicely because of the latency default being up around 70ms. When I lower it though (40ms), it sounds glitchy and I can't hear the true sound but its much more in time with what I'm playing in time with the music. td;dr Is there a method to work around audio latency in computers while listening to playback while you record

I agree that the sax is very... not human to say the least. This will change though once a friend of mine gets back home for spring break. We're going to try a live recording of it to get rid of that mechanical sound. And that instrument is a heavily modified guitar plugin that, for now, is just a place holder. Thanks for the input and keep checking for updates

Thanks for the comments/suggestions I'm still new to music production so everything helps and I really appreciate the input. I'll (hopefully) have an update soon that will have a bit more meat to it than what's up currently. I'll also play with the reverb and volumes and see if I can get more of the sound that I'd like to have. EDIT: Alright, done working for tonight. After playing with the reverb, drums, and sax I feel like this is actually coming along nicely. My thoughts are summed up on the newgrounds page http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/320191
