  1. What was your starting vision for the piece/how has that evolved so far? I think that would help more with constructing feedback - in general I feel like your orchestration is done quite well and sounds realistic enough (at least the strings). In terms of expanding...a rehash of the first half the song (where legato strings is backed by those rhythmic staccato strings), but maybe without the staccato strings...in order to transition elsewhere (unless you wish to keep the energy up throughout the piece)
  2. Hi all, I made this piece for Project VGM, a collaboration by some folks here and elsewhere. It's the first time I've made something using tracking in a DAW, I used Reaper and some free soundfonts. Thus I was hoping for some criticism/feedback on my technique, since I'm quite new to mixing and all that. Thanks! You can hear the song here: http://soundcloud.com/seagaia/project-vgm-77-mustle-seagaia I was trying to create a calm, mysterious, sleepy feel (I imagined a hazy forest village in the treetops, hidden from time). I thought the piece ended up a little muffled.
  3. Wow, thanks for the quick help, guys. I'll play around with these ideas now...
  4. The effect in question is from around 1:35 to 1:55 here: Could someone give me some advice as to how that effect is achieved (the sound sort of moving to the back/left of your head, then feels like it's moving into your head) Also, I'm vaguely familiar with achieving that "underwater effect" (could probably find something on that), but if anyone wanted to quickly explain that anyways that'd be cool. Thanks.
  5. Okay, thanks - this mostly stems from a total lack of computational resources on my part, so I'll probably look into the WIP board to bounce my ideas of this style around.
  6. Hi all, I'm new here (the community, not the website - been enjoying the arrangements for many years). I was interested in contributing, but I was looking through the "submission guidelines" and I still couldn't find the answer for this question (maybe I'm just not looking hard enough) - I was interested in remixing some songs using only the Organya samples from Pixel's Cave Story. Is this okay? I know off the bat it wouldn't be a similar sound to the majority of pieces on OCRemix. They wouldn't be just transcribing a song by ear into organya instruments. Thanks for your help.
