  1. I don't remember the context of hearing about Voices of the Lifestream, but that was the first time I heard about the site. I remember feeling incredibly jealous, and thinking "man, what an awesome way for all those people to pay tribute to my favorite game, meanwhile I do nothing" (even though I had no composing nor remixing experience whatsoever in 2007). But I didn't even think about joining until 2012, to participate in the FF6 remix contest.

  2. I forgot to vote :/ I was going to vote while driving in to work this morning but then I felt bad because I hadn't had a chance yet to listen to evktalo's track and couldn't give feedback ..

I have since listened to it and I liked evktalo's track a lot, I liked the groove. Although there were only two elements, they were two pretty good elements that worked well together. You mentioned you'll add it to the list to finish someday, and I hope you do come back to it soon and finish it :D

  3. I googled "Wrecking Crew ocremix" in preparation for PRC257, and this thread was the only thing I could find. I realize more and more that I haven't really played all that many games, but a long time ago I played this game, and I played it a lot. The main track is memorable, and deserves to be remixed!

  4. Nice work Hakstock for getting those votes and putting The Gobots on the board :P

Round One was particularly memorable for me because since the moment I saw The Moon revealed, I kind of freaked out--it felt impossible to combine Needle Man with The Moon. But eventually I somehow came up with some semblance of an arrangement, and Hakstock and Obtuse helped out with useful feedback. Thanks guys and nice wark everyone :D

  5. Isn't there some PRC rule, the winner of a contest can submit a mix for the next round but it doesn't count? Is that the case for this compo as well? Did I completely imagine this? I can't find it in writing anywhere now.

HoboKa will be able to confirm for you regarding MnP.

.. but yes the PRC rule is the previous winner cannot take part in the next round but may submit a bonus mix --probably to prevent someone winning every time. YES I'm looking at you Argle hehe ..

  6. I have a few questions for curiosity's sake (if that's okay)

    1) Do you have a preference between doing voiceovers and voice acting?

    2) How did you start doing voice work?

Sometimes, I'd think I could do voice acting, but I never did anything even remotely close to pursuing it. When I go on long drives by myself and I drink an energy drink, I sometimes get loopy and start doing random voices/accents. SHRUG.

  7. I'm still on my way up of achieving "good" status but I just wanted to comment.

Turning point: I'd say I was the best guitar player I ever was when I was 15-18 years old. If I wasn't working, partying, or skipping school, I was playing guitar. ... I just played guitar till my fingers hurt

I feel this applies to me exactly except with drums. I brought my sticks everywhere--I'd play on the dashboard while my brother was driving, I'd bring it on vacations and play on my legs, pillows, ironing boards, the back of my arms. There's this weird disconnect for me between how good I was at drums and how easy it was for me in high school, to now, where everything regarding music production is a slow, frustrating struggle.

Anyway, to try and answer the OP, I've been halfheartedly trying a lot of things, such as making bad remixes (PRC), making bad original music (OHC), buying music books (and never reading them), but I feel the biggest stride for me so far was the recent WCRG because my teammates were kind of obligated (hehe) to listen to my track and give me feedback, that helped a lot, in addition to the reviews by other competitors.

  8. an idea I've had is to post Remixer reviews, where I review all your mixes as a whole rather than the individual mixes.

Aw man I would love to get critiqued by the mighty BAMFibious .. maybe not for the later rounds because they were a bit of a mess for me, but my first two attempts were pretty solid efforts on my part.

I mean ALL reviews are absolutely welcomed and appreciated , I'm just saying I've really enjoyed your music stylistically throughout this competition and ever since that Sonic compo 8O oops I went all fanboy for a minute, apologies

  9. I'm a backer. They're currently $1,246 short of their goal with 37 hours left as of this posting. From their project page:

Indie game-focused 10-album music bundle, streaming concerts, and coverage of Square Sounds and the Tokyo Game Show.

Reporting live from Japan, the three-week Tokyo Gaming Showcase documents this year's Tokyo Game Show and Square Sounds concert. We will also be bringing behind-the-scenes coverage of our Tokyo Indie Underground talk event, Indie Game Dance Party and Chip Rivals Osaka show.

  10. I started this a while ago as a remix (I think), and then I quickly ran out of ideas, so it quickly morphed into this. It's hecka repetitive but I still kind of like it (I think this applies to most of my stuff).

  11. Both links go to the same place, but the first one is a "special" link they provided me, saying that I get extra entries if people sign up by clicking on it (I believe). I didn't want to pressure anyone so the 2nd link is just the general link for the competition.

Hmm well this is what the link shows when I click on it, unless I'm mistaken/doing it wrong?
