  1. I think I'm going to get a charge kit. I'm tired of buying batteries every two weeks.

By the way, any Monkey Ball fans here (people who've played the earlier monkey ball games)? Is the 'new' one worth the dough?

It really isn't worth it if you want to play the actual Monkey Ball game single-player. The sensitivity of the Wii Controller is so high it is near impossible to play and have fun. I recommend Super Monkey Ball 2 if you want to play the single-player game if you can still find it in your local store. On the other hand the multi-player is the best I have found this side of Wario Ware.

  2. I really like the final scene of the episode when one of the Catholics said about Saint Peter's heir on the throne, "He doesn't have anything to say... maybe that's what Jesus meant all along."

  3. I don't know if you guys consider the SEGA Genesis' Gain Ground to be a crap game nowadays (it is on the Virtual Console for download) but the cooperative multiplayer is Gauntlet meets Ogre Battle. Try getting to level 4 and lasting long... it gets pretty tough!

  4. Europe has Donkey Kong Country for the VC. Scratch that, I have DKC for the VC.

Hell yeah. We're also getting WarioWare on the 12th.

Is there a way you can bypass the region and download games that are available to Europe or Japan?

  5. It would require each developer to issue a patch to make use of the controls, plus options for configuring.. and some sort of injection system, similar to an Action Replay, to arbitrarily replace code during runtime.

And then Nintendo would have to issue a heavy firmware update that doesn't disable certain hardware elements during the reboot to GC mode.

Something I'd like to see, is an update that would let you boot straight into a game, GC or Wii, without having to go through the channels menu first.

    Amen to that!

  6. Ok question. Dunno if anybody has tried this yet or not but, can you download a game from the VC, put it on an SD card and delete it from Wii memory, and still play it?

like could you keep it on your sd card untill you wanted to play it, and then just transfer it to your wii memory. Would it still work? I just dont wanna risk deleting it from my wii memory, only to have it not work later on.

    anybody know?

I cannot say for certain that your method works 100% but another forum-goer has attempted this and it worked. Supposedly, you can re-download games you delete if you ever do.

I can't decide which VC I wanna buy. Altered Beast, Gunstar Heroes, Ecco, Ristar, or R-Type.

I'm leaning towards Ristar and R-Type.

I enjoyed Gunstar Heroes. Altered Beast is crap. Not much to say on the rest though.

I recommend Gunstar Heroes as it has amazing single and multi-player action. After that get Super Castlevania IV or Toe Jam & Earl.

  7. I think gaming has a long ways to go still, in terms of how developers approach a game. Just take Twilight Princess for example - it is just chock full of stuff, but even it seems to have more to go. Compare that to most of the games you see around. Even awesome games like Gears of War seem to be lacking in comparison. In fact, people tend to compare Twilight Princess only to the other Zelda games. Shouldn't we be holding all games to the same standard, and not just certain franchises?

In many gamers' eyes, Zelda Link's Awakening is still the standard.

On a lighter note: Does anyone know if the Virtual Console controller will be playable on certain Wii titles? I would hate to spend $20 a piece on these beauties only to not be able to use them on Smash Bros. Brawl.

EDIT: The controllers do work on certain games such as SSB:B and DBZ:Tenkaichi 2

  8. Christmas morning and I'm at work. Oh well, I already celebrated. Christmas in Japan is pretty much a joke anyway. It's just a time for couples to screw in hotels.

And... Tentacle Santa to come and give all the good little girls a special surprise!

  9. I'm bored with the Wii atm...

Same here. I can't wait for Wario Ware to come out, but until then, I'm casually playing Wii Sports every now and then with friends, but mostly going back to my PS2.

God, does Guitar Hero EVER get old? One of the best values I ever got out of a game.

Me three. Good thing I got a new XBox 360 & Gears of War for the moment.

And Guitar Hero is just fun to pick up and play...who knows when it'll get old, especially if they keep releasing games, although MTV recently bought out Harmonix :( .

Guitar Hero is DDR 2.0 (with your hands instead of your feet) only this time it is cool! For those bored with the Wii try out Madden's mini games... great way to waste time until Monday when the new VC games are released.

  10. How the hell do you get the hawkeye? What does it do? It never appeared in the store.
In Karkariko village, you can talk to the kids, and one of them will offer you a chance to play a game. You have to stand by the spring, and hit a wooden pole on top of the top-most building on the other side of town. Hit the pole, and you get the Hawkeye.

How do you do it? Just keep firing and moving over a bit until you hit it.

I have found that it is easier if you switch the controls from the Wiimote to the joystick. Yes, this does take away some of the point of even owning the Wii version, but you a) get rid of the annoying, unexplained fairy and B) save some Wiimote battery.
  11. Or maybe Nintendo makes us pay for a good product?

I'm interested and afraid to see how the Wii browser works. After all, internet browsers are the number one most likely way to obtain spyware. It's probably why Xbox Live doesn't have one. Then again, Wii's hardware should be so alien from anything else that there won't be issues for a while.

Is the browser tied to the internal memory in any manner? If not, I can't see how the spyware can save itself to your Wii...
