  1. I do a combo of mouse clicking and midi keyboard performing to get the drum "notes" in place, then quantize where necessary. Since I'm kinda lazy and I absolutely hate mixing, I go with EZ Drummer (Nashville EZX drum kit is the best thing ever) for most of my work since the samples come pre-mixed, pre-EQ'd, etc. They basically sound great right out of the box. That way I can concentrate on the other stuff I enjoy doing most without much hassle.

  2. Am I the only one who thought the winner's voice sounded strained throughout almost the entire performance? If this contest was based on those entries alone, then the best performer didn't win, imo. Kinda drove me nuts when I listened to the winning entry, because I could have easily picked 5 others (maybe more) that topped it, including Jill's.

Also, I agree with everything BGC stated. It's why I've never had hope that I could ever make a living doing what I love to do most, let alone make a penny.

    /my 2 cents

  3. You want to view the mpo file, not the single jpg. Both left and right jpg files sit inside the mpo file. The best and easiest way that I've found to view mpo files is with a freeware program called StereoPhoto Maker which can be found here: http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/

Using that, you can mess around with your 3D photos and save as a stereo jpg in many formats ranging from cross-eyed view to stereo anaglyph. It's a pretty nifty program.

  4. Pre-ordered a black 3DS with Pilotwings and Steel Diver.

I was sold when I finally got to try it out at Best Buy. Then I was really sold when I got into the main menu and tried out everything else like the AR games and the 3D camera. Pretty slick device and I absolutely love the 3D effect. It really seems like you get a lot of stuff just with the system alone, so I guess that's at least partly how I'm justifying the cost in my mind. If you're bored, you can read about my impressions and see some pics I took of the system here and here.

  5. Part of the issue is that I thought we were out of time, so I thought we couldn't go back and re-master the track before the release of the project. At one point though I thought we were gonna get someone else to master it for us, but that fell through for whatever reason. Also, I don't entirely trust my own mastering skills. Also, I thought maybe we'd have a chance to re-master before submission to the site, but I got caught up in real-life stuff and didn't think to say anything to Taucer or Jose in time. Also, I think at one point I thought we'd get NO'd anyways until we cleaned it up a bit and remastered it, haha.

To sum things up: stuff happens.

Regardless of that stuff, I had a ton of fun recording my vocal tracks. I didn't know I could hit that high note until I busted a nut trying. I thank Taucer and Jose for inviting me onto their delicious rock track and I hope to do many more collabs!

  6. I'm annoyed because I want to buy a new DS (shoulder buttons are worn out on my current DS Lite), but I want to play some DSiWare games, but also have a GBA slot for certain games and have my M3 card work on it too. grrrrrrr...I guess I'll just purchase another Lite.

  7. It took some time, but this song really grew on me. I love the vocal performance and the panning on them. I love the entire acoustic nature of the track. So open and energetic. Impressive arrangement altogether. Vocals seemed slightly buried at 3:44 but not enough to detract from enjoying them. Man, the whole last minute or so is really addictive to listen to, such a fun jam. I love it when a new vocal remix comes along and this one totally delivers. Great stuff, guys!
