  1. I do a combo of mouse clicking and midi keyboard performing to get the drum "notes" in place, then quantize where necessary. Since I'm kinda lazy and I absolutely hate mixing, I go with EZ Drummer (Nashville EZX drum kit is the best thing ever) for most of my work since the samples come pre-mixed, pre-EQ'd, etc. They basically sound great right out of the box. That way I can concentrate on the other stuff I enjoy doing most without much hassle.
  2. Yeah, I don't see how a straw man argument adds to the discussion, but that's the internet for ya. If you wanna talk vocal expression though, again, I could easily pick 5 other entries that topped the winner, but of course that's somewhat subjective.
  3. Am I the only one who thought the winner's voice sounded strained throughout almost the entire performance? If this contest was based on those entries alone, then the best performer didn't win, imo. Kinda drove me nuts when I listened to the winning entry, because I could have easily picked 5 others (maybe more) that topped it, including Jill's. Also, I agree with everything BGC stated. It's why I've never had hope that I could ever make a living doing what I love to do most, let alone make a penny. /my 2 cents
  4. You want to view the mpo file, not the single jpg. Both left and right jpg files sit inside the mpo file. The best and easiest way that I've found to view mpo files is with a freeware program called StereoPhoto Maker which can be found here: http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/ Using that, you can mess around with your 3D photos and save as a stereo jpg in many formats ranging from cross-eyed view to stereo anaglyph. It's a pretty nifty program.
  5. I like taking 3D photos with my 3DS (cross your eyes for this):
  6. What McVaffe said, plus with Nintendo having nearly a decade of design experience under its belt with the DS & DS Lite system, they have practically all the kinks worked out, so there's no real need for say, a "3DS Lite." Any future revisions will likely be minimal at best. A tweak here and there. Maybe we'll see a 3DS XL at some point.
  7. Pre-ordered a black 3DS with Pilotwings and Steel Diver. I was sold when I finally got to try it out at Best Buy. Then I was really sold when I got into the main menu and tried out everything else like the AR games and the 3D camera. Pretty slick device and I absolutely love the 3D effect. It really seems like you get a lot of stuff just with the system alone, so I guess that's at least partly how I'm justifying the cost in my mind. If you're bored, you can read about my impressions and see some pics I took of the system here and here.
  8. AB never fails to deliver the feelings he's trying to convey in his songs. I'm always thrilled whenever a new track of his is released. I look forward to listening to this again and again, especially when I'm driving around and singing along. That chorus kills me. I love it so much.
  9. I googled "encom employee identification" and got the info from another website.
  10. I think this might be where us encom newbies log in: http://www.encominternational.com/employeeintranet/
  11. I wouldn't mind, but I'd rather someone with more experience than me handle the mixing/mastering.
  12. Part of the issue is that I thought we were out of time, so I thought we couldn't go back and re-master the track before the release of the project. At one point though I thought we were gonna get someone else to master it for us, but that fell through for whatever reason. Also, I don't entirely trust my own mastering skills. Also, I thought maybe we'd have a chance to re-master before submission to the site, but I got caught up in real-life stuff and didn't think to say anything to Taucer or Jose in time. Also, I think at one point I thought we'd get NO'd anyways until we cleaned it up a bit and remastered it, haha. To sum things up: stuff happens. Regardless of that stuff, I had a ton of fun recording my vocal tracks. I didn't know I could hit that high note until I busted a nut trying. I thank Taucer and Jose for inviting me onto their delicious rock track and I hope to do many more collabs!
  13. Right on, Lucky! We both got lurker blood. So, when do we start work at Encom? I'm sick of my current day job.
  14. My Encom badge is well on its way to me. I'm such a nerd sometimes.
  15. hehehehe, very cool. I like where this is going and would love to hear more. And get some real hand claps in there.
  16. I'm annoyed because I want to buy a new DS (shoulder buttons are worn out on my current DS Lite), but I want to play some DSiWare games, but also have a GBA slot for certain games and have my M3 card work on it too. grrrrrrr...I guess I'll just purchase another Lite.
  17. Is the text supposed to look like stenciled paint or more like fire branding? It looks to me like the latter, but I can't tell for sure. I like Hemo's idea of banana peels hanging out. Excellent artwork!
  18. It took some time, but this song really grew on me. I love the vocal performance and the panning on them. I love the entire acoustic nature of the track. So open and energetic. Impressive arrangement altogether. Vocals seemed slightly buried at 3:44 but not enough to detract from enjoying them. Man, the whole last minute or so is really addictive to listen to, such a fun jam. I love it when a new vocal remix comes along and this one totally delivers. Great stuff, guys!
  19. DA's vocals are solid in this. It's such a sweet and sensitive remix. Great for letting your mind drift off into dreamland.
  20. The wine is good and I wish you all well. Happy new year everyone!
  21. Sick bass work! Everything on this track is super solid. From the production to the musicianship and everything and anything in between. The climax at the end had me smiling from ear to ear. I love love love the ending. Wow, great stuff.
