  1. Man i am having fun with the violin. Been listening to more of Lindsey Stirling's violin leads, one just simply cannot make exactly as realistic cool stuff indeed with this plugin but at least by far this is the best virtual solo violin. Maybe if i practice producing, composing and sound design enough, one day i will collaborate with Lindsey herself. Or it's like, yeah i do like mostly using virtual instruments, but what if i learned how to play freaking real violin myself also. Think of the recording and producing possibilities on that case if had proper recording equipment or then again just collaboration as i do like producing in a DAW still the most as it allows to compose entire freaking orchestral stuff by myself and still making modern electronic beats and sound designs. Those are fun addition to some instrumental music hybrids etc as the clips above are basically both in the Brostep style. I would need to find a way to be patience and learn about general music theory more also perhaps or maybe take some lessons or something but why bother learning all about sheets for example when i can basically learn all about daw producing one step at a time at least first and try to "fine tune my pitch ear" and especially general mixing and mastering skills, and sound design is REALLY important too.     Rushed this one also too much hence the name 'Restless' which also implies to the fast pace on changing my sound designs from one to another etc even though keeps a slow dubstep beat. And violin practice etc. Also the background picture is photoshop practice on combining pictures

In my opinion, MIDI files can help when making something slightly different (and still following the basis of the original) out of already existing compositions such as remixes especially for a beginner such as i for one am. I have used MIDI files for help on my remix tracks as following = Muse - plug in a baby, undisclosed desires, Queen - Bohemia Rhapsody, Walking in the Air, HP Hedwig's theme and Two steps From Hell Heart of Courage.  And i did download a MIDI file to help me make the upcoming Terranigma remix on which i should work on more, i just have gotten really excited about the new violin Kontakt instrument i have so i've been trying my own stuff with it

    edit. the midi file of the Terranigma compositions is so incredibly complex that it is basically way easier to find the right chords compared to the actual audio file myself. So in this case for example, the ready mid file is basically useless

    But it truly does make it maybe too easy to just replace the original instruments for example with some other stuff so improvising even if you use MIDI file, it is good practice to get to know what sounds off-key and what doesn't. And if you have time and patience, it still is better to try to make the midi yourself.  Especially for example if your making different own composition chords or notes around some vocals such as i have on my participation to Spinnin' Records remix contest. On both of them although i haven't "release" the second one yet.

    IF making remakes on the other hand you should not use MIDI file and then just load up similar instrument and call it out that you made a remake out of a song. I never have done as such as it is really good practice to try to hear the chords and sounds and then follow them on piano roll for example most recent Lindsey Stirling's Crystallize remake which is still unfinished though.

    But still, all and all, in my opinion, creativity dies even when making remixes, remakes or covers or whatever, so making entirely own compositions is the best way to get entirely new music out there apart from having some amount of inspiration from listening music and the limitations of what you can compose and design with the kontakt libraries and other plugins you have and also current skills. DAW producing luckily does make composing rather easy as you can actually hear the sounds you compose while composing rather than writing them on sheet. Getting off-topic again.

    Ok so my EP went through otherwise in loudr.fm but with only one exception, i labeled the tracks with track numbers on the files even though it wasn't necessary. Modified them and send it in for second time

  4. Man i have been working on Photoshop half a day to make a logo with my name on it as loudr.fm implied the album cover art should have also artist name, not just the album name. At least had good practice on 3-D stuff and text effects and otherwise combining several pictures together (made a "standard" youtube video background for my random creative moment clips so i can upload them as my SoundCloud upload limit was full), and a really helpful and nice guy at Youtube DJ-TheShadowz also gave advice to a site in which i could download really awesome new text fonts, which i also want to share with you guys:

    Anyways, now finally got the Orchestral Madness EP cover picture with my name on it and uploaded all the tracks into there and now it's waiting for approval anymore.

    I wasn't entirely clear about the tax form thing even though i tried to fill it out the best i could, it wasn't rocket science, but it had several terms and filling fields of which i did not have a clue what to fill in. And the difference between US tax and Finnish tax might be kind of big, so i wonder how it goes if i were so lucky that someone would want to buy my music..

As i show in the video above (which by the way isn't that great of an example of the current situation as i tried to fix the dubstep sounds better) with the pattern i made to imitate it but did not put it on playlist, the really fast violin part on the start, sounds like shit if i don't just put one note to play and let the vibrato do the work. Yet in the original it has far greater pitch change even though it kind of sounds like a vibrato, i assume it's played via fast back and forward bow movements?  Or something.. slur legato at least sounds awful when i tried to imitate that and bow change legato ain't much better.

    I guess the plugin has it's limitations at certain points most definitely

    As i said and thought earlier that i should remake that song, started on it and it's coming up quite nicely so far i guess.. although a lot of stuff to enhance on violin and on other sounds such as bass, melodies and especially the background pluck design, it's kind of shitty now.. but that's work in progress. I do love making stuff with that kontakt instrument. Couple of other stuff i have continued and done today and therefore composed some violin leads in there:

     

  7. Yes actually that can be one way of doing it but there is a whole lot of messing around with the delay speed and stuff, made kind of similar sound design already with triangle wave and added just some reverb and delay,

    At first i play the reverse version of two notes of the design, then the design itself and then i figured out how easily add some tweakable distortion as an external effect plugin for the bass explosion also, by adding Guitar Rig 5 to the mixer on the channel the descending saw design is. Cool stuff

  8. Also noticed that the name of a topic can be changed, wanted to ask about another sound on this:

    That effect sound on the start which almost sounds like some sort of an "finger sliding on a class" so to speak, you know when some people play some vine glasses by sliding wet finger on the corner, but not exactly like that still, that sound presents itself in other music as well and i am wondering what it might be and how could it be done possibly? Some high pitch sine or saw type of wave perhaps with shit ton of reverb and with slow attack to create a rising effect and throwing in some delay for the "ping pong" type of descending after the rise and release of the note?

  9. Ok, i would like to have advice on designing those really big orchestral distorted basses some tracks have. How do they actually design them?

    The distortion is phenomenal on that explosion in the track (Immediate Music - This war must end) for example and creates really chilly epic feel to those explosions. Also just for fun ever so slightly made a quick fast slightly similar violin but did not focus on it as i am not making a remake but a sound design. How to make it so explosive also? As in without the orchestral drum hits, that would be just descending saw wave with distortion although some sort of an kick is on the original as well. I assume some sort of an quick attack for other envelope and oscillator for example or another sound design as separate or just some kick or something?

Actually to go deeper, You know how especially in 'Emotive Strings' for example, there are those solo violin leads that are basically "ready to use" for own composition, in a way that is using others work for own stuff as are the lesser ones a.k.a basically all virtual instruments (kind of as the individual notes were played and recorded with a real instrument, and the plugin had to be made with some code working skills etc, wonder how much work and necessary equipment went into those) but not exactly for a composer/producer still 2 entirely different things.. For example i, as a producer / composer, choose the chords and notes that have been recorded individually, so i make it but someone else "plays" it, more or less.. although not exactly in all cases either for example modulations (in the solo violin that you recommended for example vibrato, expression etc, it would be kind of boring / dull without them modulations) are also my work and mixing and mastering etc.. and well sound designs of course are own work with the exception of the sound design plugin used hmm.. this is kind of controversial thing to think actually. 

    To think about copyright in general, it's both good and bad. For example of course the original maker of something should have the rights to the work the original maker did, so if some were stealing and claiming it as their own, that is bad so copyright is good in that case, but still making something for others to use, re-upload or especially enjoy, in that case too strict copyrights are bad, especially if the one who uses it, tells about the source a.k.a the original maker. For example i am kind of open book with the plugins and libraries i use for my productions because i would not want to claim that i basically played the actual instruments, as in i had all freaking orchestral instruments at my home and i could play them one by one and record for my compositions.. that's just absurd.  Yet it seems like some of those "big names" aren't always so open with all the things they use for their productions.. Is it because people would basically copy them and hence "steal" their work or not be special anymore if everyone could do the same or are they ashamed how they do it or something? Actually that first one kind of makes sense, yet it does not, i believe in free information and teaching people to be skilled and to learn to produce stuff, but the reason why it makes sense is still if everyone could do something the producer does for example music in this case, how could one get anything out of the individual work (if one wanted something from it) if it was not in anyway of value to anyone.. But still why do some really simple tracks are so popular yet some really difficult stuff are not as i have listened to lot's of music? Of course the taste and opinions matter hugely on that but also there is the advertising part.. Is it the image of the producer for example a DJ that shows his face basically everywhere is famous but a bedroom producer is not as they do not show up basically anywhere and therefore their work is not appreciated.. And well that of course goes into some label thingies once more as some channels play lot's of others music and for that reason people will like the channel as they play a lot of good music etc but not perhaps the artists.. but not exactly always as of course the artists that people like might get popular as they are merely noticed from there.. but still sometimes some only respect the channels which play them, not the artists.. maybe? I usually respect the actual artists more, not the channels that play them, even though i'm not saying i don't like some good music channels as they play good music to listen for long periods of time especially (when gaming for example), but for example on some of these epic trailer music mixes that i listen, they sometimes even don't mention the composer but write the name of the track if even those, sometimes some channels just write the genre of the mix and add some "juicy" adjectives for it. Of course they help to find the music but IF the artists aren't mentioned, then it's bad. Luckily usually people do write the artists also and link even the pictures used which is good for the picture artists. But still sometimes the channels are way more popular than the artists.. this is difficult controversial matter to think as there are so many sides to this, from so many directions.

  11. Well, why would they accuse you of false counterclaim if it isn't false and therefore jeopardize your account? I personally will keep on making the arguments on every false copyright claim on the compositions that i did in fact make because just going along with some bullshit does not go for me anymore. I have had enough of it. 

    And also i have also searched couple of times with the name of the composition they accused me of and have found nothing so it's kind of weird though... Like as there are truly enormous amount of music in the world already still so something could possibly sound ever so slightly similar, but the thing is, haven't found anything still and i have made the music from the top of my head so it should not affect. And for example when making remakes, why the chords/notes and sounds used haven't caught any claims? Or better yet, when i have played the actual track in the remake compared to the remake part, why those parts haven't caught in their engines.. It's weird though.. But for example on this particular video:

    I got couple of claims because of the music i played on the background from youtube :D They were genuine though and on that it's cool

    It's not like i am expecting to earn money from youtube videos in the first place especially if i had enough to live by and truly fund my productions for example, i wouldn't even care basically if the "profit" from the video (do youtube videos truly earn anything all and all anyway?) would be shared with someone, but still.. I'm just suspicious sometimes could someone be stealing my art, as there are truly people who steal others stuff, no matter if it's in the form of art or something more physical, some just don't care.

Yes i too think that it has a more "catchy tune" kind of vibe in this and would suit better for that composition, by the way the two last notes are really sucky as i basically left it at that point unfinished and am not sure even about the note modulations that play before them. There are some cool things on making guitar riffs but it is even more suitable for some other orchestral rock type of stuff or some dubstep i guess. But dubstep can also be rather delicious hybrid with a cool violin lead. Possibilities are endless. More effort will go into making violin lead as it requires modulations far more of course but that does not matter as long as it sounds good.

    Also off-topic, that's the first deep house bass line try so it's kind of mediocre early tentative test and the verse part is kind of shitty with some lame sidechain piano melody currently so it's really.. well yeah early structure as the name of the video implies. I think i got that "dong" sound for the chorus quite right. I heard something similar once in a house song and tried to remake such sound in Serum out of nothing, or comparing with anything except with the memory of it. I don't know why but serum makes sound design so easy for me. I guess it's the "live performance" oscillators, you know how they show the wave form that is playing and how i'm modulating it

    It's like i want to make something with both, maybe make a guitar for other song and violin for other, that way i can add 2 songs already for the EP rather than making too much stuff into single tracks, or truly trying to combine them both, or like for the first chorus the other and for the second the other. i don't know.. but i do love this violin plugin and a lot

  14. Tried to fix the first chorus of the 'Whatever' for the Youtube upload. Sidechain compression on one drone at least was too big so it got too quiet and also the 'BROOOUUUU' growl (as in the growl that rises with pitch and then lowers back down, without any drone-like stops and modulations) was too loud on around 200hz and volume also compared to other growls etc.. well it is maybe too loud on this version as well.. and also screeches be either too loud, or too quiet.

    (In huge relation to the Serum problem topic on productions category, my Serum is messed up, for example for some reason in the project screeches are ridiculously quiet, but when rendered, loud all of an sudden)
