    GAMING (REGGAE) MUSIC

    Arrangements of three different music pieces (Click Clock Wood, Hornet and Bloody Tears) from three video games (Banjo Kazooie, Hollow Knight and Castlevania II: Simon's Quest) into three different Reggae genres  (Rock/Reggae, Dance Hall and Dub Reggae) to give each  of them  a unique sound, treatment, and atmosphere, as well as to explore different Reggae elements and techniques that could be applied to video game soundtracks.

    CLICK CLOCK WOOD

    Click Clock Wood is the name of the last stage in the video game Banjo Kazooie before the final boss fight. This stage has the particularity that is divided into the four seasons that describe the weather during the year in the North and South hemispheres. Each season has its own variation of the theme Click Clock Wood and resembles perfectly each one of those weathers. For this arrangement, we decided to use the Winter Variation and create a musical piece based on the musical genre of Reggae with some Rock elements. The instrumentation of the piece resembles the standard instrumentation use by Reggae groups: Trumpet, Saxophones, Trombone, Bass, Piano, Guitar, and Drums. The final result is a very happy and layback track that keeps what makes the winter variation of the theme so memorable but at the same time, it adds that layback Reggae feel with some Rock/Reggae Drum patterns.

    GAMING (JAZZ) MUSIC

    Arrangements of three different music pieces (Snowdin Town, Megalovania, and Green Hill Zone) from two video games (Undertale and Sonic The Hedgehog) into three different Big Band formats using different Jazz styles (Ballad Swing, Swing and Latin Jazz) to give each  of them  a unique sound, treatment, and atmosphere, as well as to explore different Jazz elements and techniques that could be applied to video game soundtracks.

    SNOWDIN TOWN

    This arrangement explores the use of Ballad Swing elements such as tempo, voincing distribution, and non-conventional Big Band instrumentation and then applies them to Snowdin Town, a very memorable song from the video game Undertale. The arrangement seeks to recreate some of the musical characteristics present in the reference tune that was used for this project: Blues For Pablo - Miles Davis and Gil Evans.

    Re-orchestration of a Jazz standard Unknown to the composer. The melodies where give to the arranger without any knowledge of the musical piece to ensure a fully blind new version of the song. To this day the name of the song has been Unknown to the arranger.

  5. Mechanical Media Music

    Fusion is a project that involves the arrangement of popular music. The idea was to arrange 3 different songs in a way that they resemble the sound of other artists, completely different from the original composer(s)/musician(s) and our selfs. Each song has a different reference artist that had to be explore and in all cases, the musical styles that were decided to be used tended to be very different from each other.

    The Project consists of 3 arrangements and was done as a College project on 7th and 8th semester.

    Vocal arrangement of Nirvana´s Come As You Are. This piece was composed for a college project and explores the idea of using only the voice to recreate a popular song. Pentatonix could be called the main reference we took into account for this work, but it was not the only one we used.

  6. Mechanical Media Music

    Coraón Coraza is an arrangement of Leo Browers Guitar Studies Nº 5 with the lyrics of Corazón Coraza, a poem written by Mario Benedetti. The idea was to take the Leo Brower study and make with it something different without changing anything, just adding. The final piece is a contemporary composition/arrangement that involves both Benedetti and Brower, taking a poem and a study and making them into a "traditional" musical piece.

    Innocent was the first work that we arrange. This song is originally by Taylor Swift, and the work consisted of making it sound as if Erykah Badu had composed this song for her album Baduizm. The music was done all using MIDI except for the vocals, who were in charge of:

    Ayapel is an arrangement of a popular song from the Caribbean Coast of Colombia that explores the mix of Jazz and Porro. This piece was conceived for a standard Jazz Trio (Piano, Bass, and Drumset), and focuses on the creation of a piece that can transmit the magic that this two genres can create when mixed together.

  10. Mechanical Media Music
    Now that the year is coming to its end, and after thinking a lot about it, we decided we are going to publish 3 arrangements that we were not going to show to the public because of Copy Rights issues. These arrangements are going to be uploaded each every Sunday, starting from tomorrow, and until November 19.
     
    Also, we will like to announce a kind of a new project that will begin November 19. The idea is to upload every 15 days analysis of different Sound Tranks from different games. This analysis will be kind of superficial, with some of them a little bit deeper so that even nonmusicians can read them, understand them and enjoy them. (We will be picking suggestions if anyone has one.)
     
    Lastly, from December 17 to January 1 of 2018, we will be uploading our latest project, Gaming (Reggae) Music. This project continues the ideas of Gaming (Jazz) Music, in arranging 3 different Video Games soundtracks into popular music, but this time exploring Reggae, Dub and Dance Hall.

    Antaño is a contemporary musical composition that focuses on the usage of the Twelve-Tone Theory. This type of music was popular during the early XX century, as well as what we know as Group Theory. This piece is inspired by the work of Anton Webern, Arnold Schoenberg, and Alban Berg.

    Our most ambitious work until today, and our own personal favorite: Las Noches Blancas is the retelling of the famous short story Las Noches Blancas, written by Fiodor Dostoievski in 1884. The composition is a full orchestra musical piece with 5 movements and a total duration of 14 minutes.
