  1. Yo!

I will have an update b4 the deadline (or dead on it!) however...

The first WIP I submitted for deadline was a dancey version of E.G.G.M.A.N (Instrumental.) I recall being told I need to work on the style and make it fit in.

Now, electronica was encouraged (as was rock and orchestral etc.) from the outset - So, what 'feel' is this project after?

I remember great boss and evil guy themes mainly through energy and urgency with a bleak vibe, maybe a flicker of hope. That's what I'm aiming for.

    Should I change my aim?

  2. It's a shame.

Sonic is my childhood and profiteering (i.e. rushing out a buggy and broken game) is killing it.

    HOWEVER, Sonic Rush was ace.

Sonic Rivals, though I've never played it, was supposedly decent.

The Sonic and the Secret Rings impressions are all surprisingly positive.

But the 'big one' failed through greed - no self-respecting game company should have allowed Sonic 2K6 out. To be honest, although Sonic Heroes is often cited as the series downfall, it was Shadow's game that killed it for me.

Surely quality control should be the thing of most importance to Sega and maybe they will realise that as the poor Sonic 2K6 reviews and sales should support.

I almost went off gaming after my favourite series went so downhill, however, Gears of War has reeled me back in and I await a return to the glory days in the future. One can only hope.

  3. DJ Puff for the Commodore 64. It came on a tape and it was essentially the first platformer (other than Sonic 1) which I hammered to death.

You were a dragon, a DJ Dragon, who had his discs stolen by an evil something and you had to collect them, plus also shoot fire at aztec Indians. There was like, 4 levels (massive levels) with a boss at the end of each and there was no ending - the game looped back to the beginning.

The collision detection was awful, the game sluggish and the rewards non-existent however I love it as one of the first things hooking me on gaming. It was colourful, cute and challenging.

I challenge ANY of you to know this game. Also, Slug for the C64 - however, that WAS a great game.

    EDIT:

After saying that I had to play it again and my memory (though last I played it I was five) is spot on - check out the Aztec!

    DJPUFF.JPG

Yay! I'm gonna have to remix the level tune this year. BTW the game's full name is DJ Puffs Volcanic Capers, which I didn't remember.

  4. This is like my first post on vBulletin!

I got the PM thanks and I'm still up for the project - admittedly, I haven't given it much TLC because of my Degree assignments and upcoming module exams.

But hey, deadlines bring out the best of me.

Also, forgive me for not critiquing the WIPs of other project members - I'll aim to rectify that after the next deadline so that I can see where everyone is going.

Keep going guys! Good to see momentum continuing to build.

    EDIT: I'm a Senior Member!?

    Dr. Robotnik-

Last you said, you were going to make it darker, but also more "dance-y". Be very careful with that.

I understand what you are looking for; I think I may have mentioned before, but the kind of thing I'm gonna go for is like Insomnia by Faithless which is a very dark tune yet a dance masterpiece with euphoric overtones.

Did that description make me sound like a wine critic?

One thing that is holding me back a little is my inability to sing correctly (voice is okay, just need to learn how to use it.) I aim to be having singing lessons once the Christmas season has been and gone and the lyrics I have planned with the style I have in mind should rectify the O LOLZ - ITZ HAPPEHY vibe which sometimes emanates.

Did that description make me sound like a wine critic?

The lyrics mangle the original and paint a picture of an insane persona, but insanity which justifies and glorifies itself.

Now, I understand you have only one WIP from me, but the schedule of my job and my degree course intercepts my ReMixing and OCR-ing. But rest assured I am not going away - I should be providing something in time for the 12 days of Christmas.

Spunodi - A little too light. At the moment, not the right feel, considering the whole album. Good work so far, though.

A few things have prevented me getting the right feel - such as work and degree assignments. However, bear in mind that it is a template for eventual lyrics.

I plan to rework the drums to give them more punch, re-arrange the 'synth' solo I've added to make it more energetic and dance-y (plus darker - think 'Faithless - Insomnia' influence,) plus I also plan on getting better XD

If you think I'm heading in the right direction, or you feel the need to bring up some suggestions for certain things then please let me know - I will be working on it further on in the month.

  7. Cheers guys!!!

    Heres a WIP - M.A.D.M.A.N

E.G.G.M.A.N from SA2 ReMix - needs work. Try finding the instrumental version of the original here - they have a special media player on the first page.

I will post this in the correct places soon enough, but here I qualify for the deadline - (yay!)

I also gotta check out the other WIPs and give some feedback and that will be done later.

  8. I came to post my WIP and - Rapidshare's full!!!

    Weird.

Anyway, I will scan for another host when I get back from work (gotta go soon) and post the link in the appropriate places.

Which leads me to my first question; should I post the link here, the project's own forum plus OCRWIP forum? Please clarify.

Plus initial art sketches there look mint, but of course need more doing before I can truly comment.

See y'all in about 10 hours.

  9. Yay! It's in GenDisc!

I'm already signed up and have been eerily quiet since - the reason for that is I'm in Bangkok right now and enjoying the lunacy.

I get back to the motherland on 7th November and will provide a WIP (It's on my hard drive already) plus I will provide a revised WIP in time for the deadline.

I got the PM, thanks, and will become more active on my return (just quickly checking the site to see if Project Chaos has made it yet - obviously not.)

ALERT TO MODS - IF YOU FANCY REMOVING THE FOLLOWING CHEEKY PLUG THEN PLEASE DO SO

If you do fancy checking out what sort of level I'm currently at with my mixes, ReMix thaSauce posted 'Submerged' by me last week yet no-one's reviewed it ('cos of dance discrimination, I assume :( )

Anyway, good to see progress has been made and I look forward to working on this project more fervently in November.

  10. Claire Redfield

    Capcom

    1998

    ocr4_mascot91.jpg

    Character Summary

Claire Redfield is the sister of Chris Redfield (a main character in the original Resident Evil, known as Biohazard in Japan) and is one of two selectable characters in the sequel, Resident Evil 2. The above is official Capcom artwork for Claire's design in Resident Evil 2 which is altered slightly in the later released Resident Evil: Code Veronica, although Alyson Court remained her voice actor.

Her character is described as adventurous and having an interest in motorcycles, which is evidenced in Resident Evil 2's introduction as she rides one speedily into Raccoon City. This was her videogames debut, and the reason for her visit was to look for her brother. However, the small american town had been infected with the T-Virus and instead of finding Chris, she finds a zombie lunging towards her instead. Luckily, she is saved by rookie cop Leon Kennedy, who she forms an alliance with, however their partnership is soon broken when a tanker explosion separates them. This is where the game begins and the truth begins to unravel.

Having survived the events of Resident Evil 2, Claire then makes it her mission to take on the evil Umbrella corporation who are responsible for the outbreak. At the beginning of Code:Veronica, she breaks into their Paris Laboratory, however, she gets outgunned and captured. She is taken to Rockfort Island and held in a prison cell, yet when the island is mysteriously attacked, her captor allows her freedom and she finds another nightmare to contend with.

Claire is a very strong willed character, yet she is also the only character with no formal training to help her deal with these horrors (the other main characters have been Special Tactics And Rescue Service agents, police and mercenaries.) Although initially shocked, Claire adapts very quickly and it is clear that her instinct for survival can overcome the challenges that face her. She also has a caring and sensitive nature coupled with a strong sense of justice, which can be seen in Resident Evil 2 through her relationship with Sherry Birkin and her dealings with Annette Birkin. Her communication is very direct and if she has something to say, you can be sure that she will say it.

Currently there is no news of future appearances in the Resident Evil series for Claire, however, it is surely inevitable that she will return.

  11. (...)

There's no reason for you to concern yourself with these matters, nor is your opinion welcome.

Now if you'll excuse me, I must return to searching for pictures of a young Wilford Brimley.

LOL You do have a big inflated ego, don't you? I was just trying to make a point here, or maybe getting some answer to something I didn't know. As the head member of an announced project, you should know that people look forward to what you're doing, have ideas and expect response - I bet you will expect response when this is finished! So try to be more fair and less superstar.

Oh, by the way... if you don't like opinions, why do you use a public forum to discuss your project? There is nothing in the guidelines that would preclude me from enjoying my right to free speech =p

Whoah, dude! This is Teh Internetz and such humour (as was clearly being employed there) is commonplace.

Now these people are very busy and have a project to work on; there is no set deadline as it were as quality is the key.

It ain't gonna be finished till it's finished, as a browse through this thread would reveal to you.

  12. Cheers, but Re: Extracting vocals - the original and instrumental recordings of E.G.G.M.A.N differ enough to make it impossible to successfully extract the vocals. Even on parts of the wave where it sounds the same, the peaks do not match (even inversely). Also, extracting what is panned to the middle of the recording does only make a tiny difference. So, singing it is.

I believe there are programs out there that would enhance my recordings and if you can name them then I would be grateful - however, techniques of actual singing would be more satisfying.

  13. I've been working on a ReMix of E.G.G.M.A.N for some time now and I'm at the stage where lyrics are to be added. Having tried every known technique to extract the vocals from the original, it dawned on me that the only way to add them (rather than a ROBOvoice) would be to sing.

Now, I don't sing. I've made many attempts at recording the lyrics with huge variation in quality - what I would like to ask is, what tips do any of you have for singing?

This may be overly general, but I can't think of another way of wording it.

  14. Sonic the Hedgehog was a very large part of my life and as a result is Jivemaster. Masato Nakamura and subsequent composers for the Sonic games made my obsession a joy to listen to. Brilliant melodies and superb basslines combined in a happily arranged manner to make my ears smile.

Now I love dance music in all its forms.

THIS IS GREAT IN A HAPPY, SMILEY WAY!!!!!!!

JIVEMASTER IS A MODERN GOD IN HOW HE CAN TAKE MY CHILDHOOD THROUGH TO MY ADULT LIFE AND I THANK HIM FOR THIS MIX!!!!!!!

It may get repetitive but that is what happens if you repeat it for an almost infinite amount of times.
