  1. uhhhh I'm pretty sure that's the entirely different direction from which he is complaining

The Black Mesa team's motto for the entire development was "It'll be done when it's done." It's not done. It's not hard to grasp why that's consternating.

You also might want to note that he really liked the game; he wasn't complaining for the sake of complaining.

I never said that he was complaining for the sake of complaining. When I said that "You sound like one of those COD fags who complain about other FPS games when their health doesn't regenerate." I meant in the sense that those types of people choose to see things as frustrating(not fun), rather than challenging(something to overcome).

Also, what is so confusing about the BMS team releasing part of the game that is finished? and also could it be possible that the Xen chapter would take longer than a couple months to finish creating? Yes, it is possible. So what is the sense in one chapter holding up the entire rest of the project? None whatsoever. That is like complaining to Valve, why did you do the next part of halflife 2 in episodic format?

  2. I finished this. Criticisms;

    - the voice acting was around the same quality as the original's - which was mediocre for a game released in the 90s. One voice actor for guards, three voice actors for scientists was especially jarring considering they all look different and even have different names now. I can understand all the army guys sounding the same, but the army guys also sound especially retarded, so it sucks. They could have done much better on this.

I will admit they could have done better with the army voices, the 'Ow he got me' was especially cheesy, but bearable. The scientists voices didn't all completely sound the same, especially when they added female scientists to the mix. Scientists sounding the same didn't help much, but it didn't hurt it in my opinion.

    - there are several points where there's a profound feeling of 'where the fuck am I and what the fuck am I doing'. In making everything look super realistic they made it much more difficult to ascertain which button I'm supposed to push, which button can even be pushed, and where the hell are the buttons, anyway. The worst example was the Lambda Core sections, where there's an entire control panel of buttons in various places, but the button you have to push to open the drainage thing is... right beside the drainage thing, in radioactive water that you can't see through.

I will admit that sometimes I would get lost because of the maze like laboratory, but I found that locked doors looked the same, so I knew that they were locked without having to go check most of the time. Also about the buttons that need to be pressed were always glowing, so I didn't have to waste time figuring out which button to press. I also found that I could go back and talk to the scientist that told me what to do earlier and he would tell me my progress or what I should be doing, which always helps.

    - I know everyone these days is a fan of the whole 'get hit by things, your camera angle shakes' sort of realism, but it was really annoying and out of place in this game. Especially horrible was getting locked up by a bunch of Houndeyes - their little sonic blast thing moves your camera so much that it makes it impossible to shoot them for at least a second, and if there's more than one they always manage to do it sequentially, so you get almost no chance to fight back.

Oh, boo hoo. You sound like one of those COD fags who complain about other FPS games when their health doesn't regenerate. The shotgun takes care of them with one shot easily. I rarely got hit by them because I would kill them before they could even manage to do their attack. Also, a grenade took care of most of them in that small room with a bunch of them.

    - ending it right before you get into Xen was a baffling decision. It took them 8 years to do all this, why couldn't they just wait the extra couple of months to release it with Xen? They even give you the long jump module right before the portal fight thing, and you get no opportunity to actually put it to use.

Other than all that, it was really good!

Again, you sound like you are whining. I'm happy that they didn't wait for Xen to be completed because I'm sure most people were tired of waiting. And they gave you the long jump module so that it fit with the story. Taking it out just because they weren't finished with Xen would not make any sense.

  3. Okay, so one of the greatest mods of all time is coming out in less than 3 days(2 days, 17 hours, 50 minutes, as of this posting) called Black Mesa (Formerly known as Black Mesa: Source, but changed their name at the request of Valve)

So what is Black Mesa? If you have ever played Half-life, you should know exactly what it is. Black Mesa is a re-imagining of Half-life on the Source engine(version 2007).

On September 14th you will see the first release of Black Mesa! This will include our re-envisioning of Half-Life all the way up to Lambda Core. We believe this is a great way to provide a complete-feeling 8-10 hour experience with a solid ending, make our fans happy and help us make the best overall game possible.

We are still working hard on Xen and BMDM, but instead of making you wait we are giving you Black Mesa as soon as it's ready! We're doing our best to help bring the immense vision of this project into reality, and we are very excited for what the future brings!

    Trailer:

We want to make sure all of you are ready for the big day. If you don't already know, Black Mesa will require the FREE Source SDK Base 2007 to run. If you are not too sure that you have Source SDK Base 2007 installed or you don't own any source based games, please click here to download and install the Source SDK Base via Steam for FREE.

I know many of you loyal Half Life fans are planning on taking a vacation day from work, calling out sick for school, or even both. We are working very hard to ensure your day off does not go in vain, and that every person trying to download Black Mesa will undergo a smooth and fast downloading experience. The approximate download size will be 3.03 GB, 8 GB uncompressed. At launch, a launch pad will be available offering multiple mirrors and options for download. These options shall be revealed during launch. So go ahead, take that day off and join us!

We know you all are very excited and we want to you share your gameplay experiences as soon as you finish playing. We also want to make sure to collect any bug reporting and get any resolved as quickly as possible. With that being said, the forums shall be moved to it's own separate server. So when you are finished re-visiting Black Mesa, we'll be here to hear all about it.

We are very excited and we are counting down the days right along with you!

I hope this soundtrack might pique some remixers' interests as well. I like a lot of the songs in the soundtrack and I can see some being remixed.

also, if for some reason you don't have Steam, you can get it here.

  4. Except that the official (as chosen by the mangaka himself) romanisation is Levy, so any other possible choices are pretty much irrelevant.

Yes, the new ED is pretty nice.

p.s. The correct kana is レビィ

Yeah, if you only consider the official kana as right, then you are right. However レヴィ could be an alternate form. Then again, I'm still learning so I could be wrong.

anyway, beating a dead horse here. I was watching One piece AMV's and it made me want to watch Robin's arc again.

Space Brothers and Dusk Maiden of Amnesia air tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to watching them. :D

edit: Nevermind, they are already out. XD

  5. Has anyone else stopped watching new anime because of the havoc moe has wreaked on anime's art style? I've decided anime is going to be unwatchable for me until a decade or so has passed and a new generation of artists comes in and reacts against moe.

I feel like anime went from this:

    http://www.imfdb.org/w/images/thumb/c/c5/BrandonHeatGungrave.jpg/500px-BrandonHeatGungrave.jpg

    to this:

    http://www.chucksanimeshrine.com/animeblog/uploaded_images/Moe-Monday_k-on-bikini-767513.jpg

I stopped going to anime cons because I no longer could recognize the shows people were cos playing. Last brand new show I watched was Code Geass.

While its true there are more moe type anime shows out there, you haven't seen some of the good shows that I think you might like.

    C3 (Cube x Cursed x Curious)

    UTW_C3_Cube_x_Cursed_x_Curious_-_04_%25255B7%25255D.jpg

    Deadman Wonderland

    just to name a few.

Revy is still one of my favorite female protagonists, even years after I've watched/read it

Revy? you mean Revy from Fairy Tail?

  6. Mysterious Girlfriend X being made into anime.

I like the manga, but it's dragged on a lot lately. Maybe the anime will pick things up again.

I've also read Tasogare Otome x Amnesia some time ago, so that could be a good transfer from paper to video. Eureka Seven Ao... not sure about that one. I liked Eureka Seven, but that was some time ago. Could a sequel series be any where near as good?

The story for Mysterious Girlfriend X manga starts to pick back up after chapter 62 or so. So, I wouldn't give up on it just yet.

  7. OK, I finished the Clannad VN Sunday and the anime last night.

... Dear fucking lord, I've never read or watched anything before that hit me as hard emotionally as Clannad did. I laughed. I sobbed. I cried. I laughed more. I cried more. And then it dropped a cluster sadness nuke and tore me to pieces before putting me back together again for the ending.

It's one of those experiences where I wish I could go back and do it all over again with no prior knowledge. I like emotional stories, and Clannad is genuinely my favorite VN and anime in that realm. Hell, they may have just topped my all-inclusive favorites list. I'm still feeling the emotions running high a day later.

As far as the characters go, Nagisa annoyed me a little bit at the beginning of the VN, but she grew on me. Especially once I started the After Story portion of the VN. I'm glad she did, too, given the story... As for the rest of the cast, I think I liked Kyou and Fuko (too cute...) the best. Both of their routes got tears from me. The way those stories were built worked fantastically.

If you haven't read the VN or watched the anime, I highly, highly, highly recommend you do so.

I've seen the anime for it, and it was boring, and all it really made me do was rage. I stopped watching it because of that.

If you want a really good VN, try the Muv Luv series(Muv Luv: Extra, Muv Luv: Unlimited, Muv Luv Alternative, in that order).

  8. I've read some previews, but I haven't found anything interesting yet.

I want a second season of Ano Natsu de Matteru

I do too! that show was epic! It was so entertaining! The characters were vibrant and not cliche' at all! It was by far one of the best shows of the season.

Now that the new Spring season has started, I'm totally stoked for Nazo no Kanojo X! I've been following the manga and I really like the drawing style, and of course the story, even if it is a little strange. But, because it is so unique it makes me excited for more! Been watching it on Crunchyroll.

Aww, another great series is only a half season! WHY!!!???

  9. Ok, this is just my impression after having listened to it only one time.

The intro leading up to ~1:06 sounds great. I like the seemly disorderly music but actually carries the tune. After that it seems like the song I was expecting never really came in at all. and the "Zombie choir" you have in the background for the majority of the song imho does not sound entertaining, and I feel that it drags this mix down considerably.

To be perfectly honest, this mix seems like it built up for something but never went anywhere. it just limped along with the same feel the entire time and never brought anything new to the table.

    Try again please.

  10. I would like to add two more games to my list.

    2. G-senjou no maou( The Devil on G-String)

    Tousou no Tsuzuki:

    Taiketsu:

    Shundou:

    Yuki #1:

I would to thank again anyone who takes interest in any of these songs!

  11. 250px-Sharin_no_Kuni_2005_Cover.jpg

While the thread title says any song, I do have some in particular that I would like seen remixed, but I would be perfectly happy with any of the songs from the game.

If you are curious about the game: click here

Here are some songs from the game I would enjoy seeing remixed:

    Gallantry:

    http://youtu.be/USuACmmZ8pw

    Youkai:

    utae, chiisana chou yo:

    hikari no saki ni:

    Slow and Steady:

    http://youtu.be/PThGi2uVwNU

    watch out!:

    egarasu no mukou e:

    http://youtu.be/0lr-rPJMC4U

While these are my favorites, i found a playlist on youtube that seems to have most if not all of the songs from the game:

    http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=F71E514E3C0D2647

As for my remixing preference, any is fine, but if I had to pick a few, I'd say Techno, Trance, DnB, Dubstep or Orchestral/classical.

    Thanks in advance!

  12. ok claado... so you're post was really long and I read it fairly fast.... but are you actually planning on MAKING the movie? Cuz I didnt' see that part in there, but what good is a script and a soundtrack if you're not going to make the movie?

Also, did you say you TOOK OUT Ayla and Robo??? I hope I read that wrong... how do you just Take Out two Main characters??

    1. No, I do not plan on making the movie. I have expressed a hope that should these two aspects of the movie come together, somebody will be willing to help create the third, namely the visual. But for now, the OST and the script are the only two finished products we're shooting for.

    2. Yes, I took out Ayla and Robo. Along with them, I took out nearly an hour of unnecessary and confusing sidequests/backstory which would have drowned the movie with more than it needs. So know that my decision was well-thought-out, and the resulting product is not hurt, but instead is helped because of it.

take out alya and robo? youve got to have lost your mind! thats like cooking only 2/3 of a pie! put them back in now!

unessessary and confusing sidequests?!? bs, man, i denounce you as even being even a remote ct fan, this collection might be good for a real movie, but youve got to put those characters back in, they play an important part in the story.

because of robo, chrono, marle, and lucca would have never tried to save time without robos help, and they wouldnt have made it past 2300 AD.

i could bet money that this script/story, even tho it is unfinished, is 10x better than your script claado. even tho the story stopped at the recieving of the epoch, its most likely better than your script. CT novel
