  1. Fei does get it off a crumple if you dash in. I'm doing it right now. Everyone's ultra has diminished damage if you land it after a FA since the FA is part of the combo. Complaining about Fei's ultra is one thing, but the mechanic is in every other character. I'm not defending him, since I think he blows, just merely stating that your particular beef with his ultra is one all characters have.

EDIT: Just did it with attack data up. If you do a full revenge meter ultra with Fei, it hits for 495 damage at 12 hits. With the addition of a level 3 focus, he does 485 damage for 13 hits. The damage reduction is negligible.

  2. The problem isn't having to dash after a focus attack: FADC means something else entirely.

Also, Rog (especially) and Chun have NO disadvantages to their ultras compared to Fei/Cammy. As a Chun main, I know she has a load of ways to setup her ultra easily (EX Legs --> Ultra is easiest), and can punish a whiffed move from full screen. Rog's setups are even easier.

Fei/Cammy can ONLY combo into ultra from a Focus Attack that stuns, and they can't get the full ultra animation if the first hit connects while the opponent is in midair. :(

Edit: Cammy can land hers off of a jumpin. It still sucks compared to the rest of the cast.

So let's debate semantics. A "standard FA" is what? level 1? Or crumple. If it is crumple then my analysis applies. If you don't dash into a crumple you miss the boat on 100% ultra effectiveness. If we're talking level 1 I don't think you can combo that into anything more than a jab/short as it lacks hit stun to chain anything with a larger start up rate.

As far as I have seen in lord knows how many videos, Rog has Headbutt to ultra and that's it. He can punish fireballs too but that isn't a setup so much as a bait.

Cammy hit's ultra after any juggle, FA or off a jump in. It does decent chip and goes under Sagat's high tiger shots. Vega and Guile, they have MUCH worse ultras with even less setup than Cammy. For all those reasons above, her ultra is no where near crap compared to the rest of the cast.

  3. While I don't know why you wouldn't dash in after any focus attack, several characters have the same problem, including Cammy. Chun, Cammy, Rog, and Fei all juggle the target if you don't dash in. Other characters miss hits but still land the ultra, like Sagat and Bison. Any character with a cut scene off the first hit are given the full ultra (Honda, Sakura, Fuerte etc.) Cammy DOES land her ultra after a jump in, however, unlike fei who juggles unless they hit the ground completely.

  4. Right, but the problem with Fei is that you can't GET those unless you set up with a focus first. There's literally no way to set up the ultra otherwise.

And while I cry for Fei there are several characters whose only set up for ultra is FADCxxUltra. DJ was a Cammy player, hence my attention to that fact.

  5. Cammy's ultra is front loaded anyways. The last hit is practically superficial. It's far more beneficial to combo her ultra than it would be to save it for full effect. Fei's damage comes off of the third(or fourth, not sure) rekka, his ultra being most damaging in the final part.

  6. Ken's ultra has to hit point blank and Akuma's is pretty much avoidable unless someone skilled is using Akuma. You can combo Cammy's ultra into a grip of situations and has range. However you are playing a low stamina character so I can't really compare damage.

  7. If the Gief is rocking lariat spam I just devil's reverse spam right back. It keeps me safe, does the same amount of damage as a roundhouse and generates meter regardless of it I hit the guy or not. You gotta be 100% attentive even if the guy is a simpleton. One botched advance and you end up eating SPD off a whiff.

  8. I still play this semi-regularly on X360

Let me know if anyone wants to play a non-lariat mashing Zangief for a change.

I JUST lost to one five minutes ago. Completely unavoidable when you're M.Bison and every move you try gets stuffed on a laggy masher. :(

  9. I mean, I was even expecting it to be subpar and looking for stuff to criticize. I found a few (Nero's motives, angle shots/shaky-cam, Spock+Uhura) but nothing detracted from the film enough to keep me from enjoying it. KF

There is the main issue. Not a soul gave this film a shot. I'd wager more people were looking for Trek to be terrible just so they could be right and tear it to pieces. Sure, you can say in your heart of hearts you want it to be good because it's Trek but not a soul would say that without adding a negative comment.

  10. About how often do you guys fight a Vega? I've had the game since it came out, and probably only played 1 maybe 2 Vegas tops. Now, granted, I'm not on it all the time, but it seems like he's one of the least used characters. The only other characer I see less of seems to be Seth. Just curious.

I main Vega, but I never fight one, so I can't see how other people use him...

Once in a blue moon. I'm on a 360. As a Sagat main running into a Vega is certainly a low point of my day so I tend to remember.

  11. She never threw it out of the window for absolutely nothing. Most of the time the Prime Directive didn't apply since they were always running into warp-capable civilizations. Even so, she didn't break it half as many times as Kirk or Picard.

The Prime Directive covers all cultures, not just pre-warp. Janeway tosses over holodeck tech to the Harogen yet refuses to take technology in several instances that would allow her to get home due to her belief in the PD. Not to mention the multiple temporal prime directive disregards.

I'm not saying anyone is truly innocent of breaking said directive, but Voyager was all about holding it up with such high regard one episode and tossing it out an airlock the next. Especially obnoxious when they waltz around the Delta Quadrant acting as ambassadors of the Federation.

  12. Of the two, Janeway was definitely more about Federation principles than Sisko. Her very adherence to them is the reason they were stuck in the Delta Quadrant in the first place.

Until she would throw the prime directive out the window for the sake of absolutely nothing.

  13. Speaking of cheap wins, the other day I played someone who picked Zangief. Counterpicked my Ryu, I think, just to lariat through fireballs. Well, he's the first Zangief I've played against, so I actually lost just as I realized how to beat him. We played another match with the same characters and I just got in and crouched under the lariat. I swept him about 5 times in a row, then overheaded him, threw him, hit him out of a focus attack and hit him with a Metsu Hadouken for the win. I felt cheap for being all up in his face the whole time, but if you're going to spam one move over and over again, you've got it coming. Also, the guy disconnected just as the results screen came up.

What you refer to being cheap is classically defined as rushdown.

  14. I recently started recording matches, and i have a Ryu vs My Zief. The Ryu is at about 2.5k BP. Im over 3k now, at about 3100 BP.

Honestly, i made a lot of mistakes, and i taunted him and almost lost because I got cocky :P But i will say - its a great fight, it could've went either way. Also shows how i play my Zief, extremely throw-heavy. Also, i need to learn how to record better :(

I suppose you're jumping like a beast cause you can't get standing 360s out as often as you'd like? You gave the Ryu a lot of free damage. There is nothing scarier than a terminator trekking 'Gief that's for sure. Good fight.
