SLyGeN
I'm having a flaky problem with shoutcast. I'll copy the email I sent to my brother regarding this problem here.. Basically it's the NAK error. SHOUTCast cannot see my computer from the internet. Well I went herehttp://www.iliketunes.com/shoutcast-firewalls.asp .. to troubleshooting that SHOUTcast problem. I got to step 3, and it said the only thing I can do is get a static PRIVATE address. Now, theoretically, when my private IP changes dynamically, the router should automatically adjust to forward packets to that address, right? I'm pretty sure it does, because other programs which require forwarded ports work just fine. The tests on that website had me connect to myself via port 8000 by typing http://127.0.0.1:8000, which worked. Then http://172.16.1.33:8000 (private ip for inside the network), which worked. THEN, http://71.141.141.121:8000 (ROUTER IP), which failed. BUT, connecting in the same manner to OTHER ports works just fine. (I get timeouts rather than errors, I assume because programs using the other ports don't know how to respond to firefox) Remember when I said it was flaky? Well just now SHOUTcast connected successfully, but trying to see it using the router IP in firefox still does not work. I don't get it. I'll also post a little bit of the console here to illustrate how flaky it is. <03/06/08@19:57:00> [source] connected from 127.0.0.1 <03/06/08@19:57:01> [source] icy-name:glenny radio or summat ; icy-genre:things <03/06/08@19:57:01> [source] icy-pub:1 ; icy-br:96 ; icy-url:http://www.shoutcast.com <03/06/08@19:57:01> [source] icy-irc:#shoutcast ; icy-icq:0 ; icy-aim:slyglen <03/06/08@19:58:32> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak) <03/06/08@19:58:32> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: 71.141.141.121:8000) from the Internet, disable Internet Sharing/NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection timed out).) <03/06/08@20:03:33> [dest: 205.188.234.97] starting stream (UID: 0)[L: 1]{A: SHOUTcast Directory Tester}(P: 0) <03/06/08@20:03:44> [dest: 205.188.234.97] connection closed (0 seconds) (UID: 0)[L: 0]{Bytes: 294878}(P: 0) <03/06/08@20:03:54> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error () <03/06/08@20:04:04> [dest: 205.188.234.100] starting stream (UID: 1)[L: 1]{A: SHOUTcast Directory Tester}(P: 0) <03/06/08@20:04:15> [dest: 205.188.234.100] connection closed (0 seconds) (UID: 1)[L: 0]{Bytes: 294912}(P: 0) <03/06/08@20:04:15> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error () <03/06/08@20:04:16> [dest: 207.200.98.1] starting stream (UID: 2)[L: 1]{A: SHOUTcast Directory Tester}(P: 0) <03/06/08@20:04:27> [dest: 207.200.98.1] connection closed (0 seconds) (UID: 2)[L: 0]{Bytes: 352256}(P: 0) <03/06/08@20:04:30> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com added me successfully <03/06/08@20:07:31> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <03/06/08@20:10:33> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <03/06/08@20:13:35> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <03/06/08@20:16:36> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <03/06/08@20:19:38> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <03/06/08@20:22:40> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! Thank you for reading, and helping. Edit: I just discovered (while shoutcast was working) that while I cannot connect to myself using the router IP, others can. So that method also works for the most part, I guess. What do you guys make of it?
