cornontheCoD
Hey guys, these are my first attempts at songs, made in Jeskola Buzz. I know that it's not always a great idea to post early work, but I have only shown these to one person, so I have no clue if they sound good to other people. I really enjoy the music here on OC remix, so I thought it would be nice to see what you guys thought. Thanks! Applaud the Martians: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/580413/Buzz%20Songs/applaud%20the%20martians.mp3 Strange song that involves lots of clapping. Definitely one of my least favorites :S Ate Bit: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/580413/Buzz%20Songs/Ate%20Bit.mp3 One of my favorite songs that I have created. Lots of old-school bits and boops. Gameboy sounds, too! Boss Battle: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/580413/Buzz%20Songs/Boss%20Battle.mp3 Another one of my favorites, it's a little repetitive, though. Catacomb, Catacombs calm version, and Catacombs Remix: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/580413/Buzz%20Songs/Catacombs.mp3 http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/580413/Buzz%20Songs/Catacombs%20%28Calm%20Version%29.mp3 http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/580413/Buzz%20Songs/Catacombs%20Remix.mp3 I didn't really know where I was going with this one, so I ended up with 3 versions of this song. It's pretty good, very ambient. My First song ever: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/580413/Buzz%20Songs/firstsong.mp3 I don't know what to say about this one. I guess it turned out pretty good, but it is a little simple Flight: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/580413/Buzz%20Songs/Flight.mp3 I half-hate this one, but half-love it, too. It has a very cool feel, but I don't think the piano flows as well as I would like it to. Foreboding: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/580413/Buzz%20Songs/Foreboding.mp3 I really like this one, it reminds me of a creepy vampire mansion. Juxtaposition: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/580413/Buzz%20Songs/Juxtaposition.mp3 This song probably has the most variety in it out of all my songs. It completely changes halfway through. I think the plucked string part sounds awesome. Lonely Victory: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/580413/Buzz%20Songs/Lonely%20Victory.mp3 Pretty simple song, fairly repetitive. Wander: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/580413/Buzz%20Songs/Wander.mp3 I really like this one too. Sounds almost like a song made in ancient China. Well, I hope you guys enjoy it. Please leave feedback! TheHands
Boss Battle is cute, though it could use better samples and more atmosphere. Overall everything sounds too midi/8bit/etc. While that's a cool niche sound, I'm not sure if it does for your music what it deserves. Foredboding is another example of something that could be improved with better samples and more atmosphere (though that may come with the samples). Juxtaposition is interesting, but I'm not sure I like how the conflicting keys mesh together. The plucked/harpsichord thing is cool, but it needs more coherence. Wander reminds me a little of a Nine Inch Nails song, which is good. Same basic problems as the others though. Overall routes to improvement: Better samples, more variance in the rhythm sections, more use of atmospheric sounds, and less repetition overall. We're all guilty of this last one at some point, but ultimately you're short changing yourself by repeating the same thing without any change at all. You've got some interesting ideas, and I think that if you stick with it and try to branch out from what you already know and are used to, then this could be some really impressive stuff. For now though, I think it might be best to keep practicing and experimenting.
