GarretGraves Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I need a little help identifying these instruments being used in this Castlevania:SOTN clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0zA6djdFL8&feature=PlayList&p=6D692C49C153D064&index=6 at 54 seconds in. Quote
Meteo Xavier Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 A layered combination of flutes and reeds. If you get the hang of layering properly, you can come up with all kinds of crazy-awesome lead sounds that genuinely give your track a unique handle for others to latch onto. Ms. Yamane is no stranger to this technique. Youtube "Castlevania Curse of Darkness: Abandoned Castle" for another example of a layered, catchy lead. Quote
GarretGraves Posted November 25, 2009 Author Posted November 25, 2009 crap i got no reeds. gonna have to find something similar i guess. EDIT: Well a piccolo flute comes close. Timbre isnt quite what im lookin for. Quote
Kanthos Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Worst case, get Squidfont Orchestral. To my ear, the lead is a flute, and the accompanying reeds are clarinet, bassoon in a fairly high register, and maybe a trace of oboe. Quote
Ravich Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Not sure how far past 0:54 you're talking about, but there's a Tuba doing the bass and some pizz in the background, the flutes on top like others have said, and then the reeds in the middle. There's definitely a clarinet on one part, and I want to say the other is an oboe in its lower range because it has that duck call quality to it. Quote
